Access: To find the starting point from Cuxac-Cabardès or Fontiers-Cabardès, take the D562 and head to the 794-metre mark where it bends at a right angle. There, you’ll find a large area where you can park. Three tracks lead off from this junction.
(S/E) Take the one on the right, heading north-east. Follow it straight on until you can see Lac de Laprade Basse through the trees.
(1) Just before you emerge from the undergrowth, take the path that branches off to the left and runs alongside the lake. Be careful, especially in autumn when the leaves have fallen, as the path is sometimes hard to make out in the light undergrowth of the forest. When you reach a small crossroads, you will see a small wooden bridge on your right. Leave the main path to head down to the right and cross this bridge. Continue along the path until you reach a small yellow wooden signpost indicating a path to the left.
(2) Take this very narrow path, lined with ferns taller than you and quite dense. After about a hundred metres, you’ll come out onto an open, gravel-covered clearing. Continue left along a wide track. This track makes a right-angle bend to the right in front of a large boulder.
(3) Leave it by taking the path on the left. This fairly steep path climbs gently up to a place called "Les Tables".
(4) Once at the top of the steep slope, you take a hairpin bend to your left along a wide track that only gets wider. This section climbs further up to a boundary stone at elevation 874, but you won’t see it as it is hidden by vegetation.
(5) At this point, leave the main track and head into the forest on the right. There is no longer a path; make your way through the open woodland. You will come to a low stone wall. Follow it to the left, still deep in the forest but easily passable. This wall marks the boundary between the commune of Cuxac-Cabardès to the east and that of Lacombe to the west.
(6) You’ll come to a road suitable for vehicles again. Follow it downwards towards the south until you reach your cars (S/E).
