The Clignon Valley starting from Belleau

Park in the car park next to Belleau Town Hall, Place du General Pershing.

(S/E) With your back to the town hall, turn left onto Rue des Chevaliers de Colomb (D1390). Ignore a dead end on the left and turn right with the road. At a fork, turn left and head towards the church.

(1)Turn left onto a path and leave the church on your right. At the fork shortly after, turn left and walk alongside a large farmhouse on your left. Ignore a turn-off on the left and you will soon reach the River Clignon. Cross it, continue straight ahead and cross a stream. Enter Givry via Rue Le Petit Chemin.

(2) Immediately rejoin the D1390 (here Rue du Général Emery) and follow it as it continues. At the fork at the end of the village, keep left on the D1390 and climb. Pass a triangular junction and you will immediately come to another intersection.

(3) Follow a small road on the left (red and white GR®11A markings).

(4) At the crossroads, turn left onto the GR®. At the edge of a wood, first turn right then left to enter the wood and head south-west.

(5) At the crossroads, turn right with the GR®. Leave the woods and continue between the fields. Turn right with the GR®11A, cross a field and you will come to a road (Rue Jean Macé).

(6) Follow the road to the right. Then take the first left, Rue de la Morte Paie. Ignore a turn-off on the left and turn right into Rue Leguilliez. Walk past the church on your left and you will come to a crossroads (town hall opposite).

(7) Turn left onto Rue du Pot d'Étain. At the end, turn right onto Rue de la Montagne.

(8) After No. 10, turn sharply left, still following the GR®. The street soon gives way to a path that climbs up to the plateau. Turn right onto the path.

(9) At the T-junction, turn left. Walk for a long time between the fields, following the GR® trail, and keep heading north-west.

(10) At the T-junction, turn left (leaving the GR® trail to the right). At a fork (elevation 173), veer right.

(11) When you reach a road (D82), follow it to the left. At the next junction (cemetery), bear left. Continue straight ahead to Courchamps church.

(12) Continue straight ahead, then immediately turn left onto the main street and pass in front of the town hall. Follow Rue de la Fontaine de Pissotte (D82), which soon turns right. Walk along this road for a long time, ignoring all the side roads. At the entrance to a cemetery, turn right with the road and head towards the church in Licy-Clignon.

(13) Continue along the D82 and pass in front of the town hall. Leave the village and cross several branches of the Clignon river.

(14) Shortly after a triangular junction, leave the road and turn left onto a path that enters a wood. Cross a river and continue straight ahead. Further on, turn right with the path and cross the river again. Enter Torcy-en-Valois via Chemin de la Halte. At the fork shortly afterwards, turn left onto Chemin du Lavoir.

(15) At the end (church on the right), turn left onto Rue du Parc and pass a wash house on the left. Continue straight ahead along the edge of the woods. At the end of the road, turn left and you will soon reach the car park (S/E).
