Parking is available at the Auberge des Eclusiers, near the campsite, on the RD98 between Sparsbrod and Lutzelbourg.
(S/E) Behind the restaurant, reach the canal bank via a small access point. Turn left along the towpath until you reach the RD98 bridge over the canal. Join the RD and continue right for about 400 metres.
(1) Leave the road and take the metal footbridge over the bed of the old Marne-Rhine Canal. Follow the towpath (cycle path) past numerous abandoned locks that make up the Vallée des Eclusiers.
(2) Cross the canal bed via a footbridge and follow the yellow rectangular signs (from the Club Vosgien). Cross the D104f and continue left to reach the Bodenmark forest house.
(3) Turn right onto the Bodenmark Forest Road (RF) and follow it for about 200 metres. Turn right onto the path marked with a yellow rectangle.
(4) Make a round trip to the Rocher du Corbeau (beautiful view of the valley). Continue following the same signs.
(5) At the crossroads, turn slightly left, still following the yellow rectangular signs.
(6) The route takes the Sentier des Rochers on the right - magnificent pink sandstone cliffs of the Vosges. Follow the same signs to reach the viewpoint over the valley.
(7) Go down the metal staircase and continue on the path downhill towards the canal.
(8) At the canal, turn right and continue for about 50 metres. Cross lock 19 on the left, then follow the towpath on the left. You will come to the boaters' reception area on your right.
(9) Turn right twice to reach the main road (D98). Turn left and follow the road for a few metres, then follow the road that climbs up to your right. After a few metres, take the path on the left (yellow, white, yellow signpost).
(10) At the crossroads, take the path on the left that leads to the ruined castle of Lutzelbourg. After visiting the castle, retrace your steps and go back down the path to the previous crossroads.
(10) Continue straight ahead. Join the road leading to Hultehouse. Follow it on your left for 100 metres. Take the path on the right that enters the forest (yellow, white, yellow signpost). Join the RD98b and turn left. Pass in front of the Moulin de Garrebourg.
(11) Leave the road and follow the forest road on the left.
(12) Make a U-turn to the left and return to the large tank, a former pink sandstone quarry. Continue south to the reservoir.
(13) Turn slightly right, cross the bridge over the stream. Continue to the right, then turn immediately left to climb the path (note that the yellow, white and yellow sign is not very visible). This path joins a forest road: continue for about 50 metres on the left, then turn right onto the path that climbs uphill. Continue to the crossroads at the Kreuzkopf forest house.
(14) Turn right onto Rue du Ehrenweg (red disc signpost) which crosses the village of Garrebourg. At the end of the village, follow the red disc signposts, keeping north-west, and descend to the finish point (S/E).
