Description of the walk

(S/E) Set off from the Vivier-au-Court cemetery towards the village, cross the D5 and head for the church

(1) Continue straight ahead along Rue Marcel Cachin and, after 220 m, turn left. Walk past the stadium, go through a gate and continue along a grassy path which leads to the D105.

(2) Turn left and continue along the D105 until you reach the junction with the D5.

(3) Turn right and take a footpath immediately on the left which leads to the Lycée Louis Armand.
Walk alongside, then round the school, keeping it on your right, then turn left onto a wide path through the fields for 500 metres until you reach a crossroads.

(4) Turn right onto a narrow track which becomes tarmac after 300 metres and leads to the centre of Vrigne-aux-Bois.

(5) Head up Avenue Jean Jaurès on the left, turn right at the Town Hall, cross the bridge over the Vrigne, take the first street on the left and then left again for a few metres until you reach the Quai de la Vrigne

(6) Turn right to follow the left bank of the Vrigne, take the first street on the left and then immediately turn right. Cross the Forge Gendarme, then continue straight ahead through the park, following the riverbank. After 800 metres, turn right to reach Rue des Manises.

(7) Turn left and continue along Rue des Manises. Ignore a wide path coming from the left and, at the next junction, take a narrow path on the left which, after 400 metres, joins a forest track. Follow this track to the right for 1,400 metres until you reach the Ferme du Rossignol.

(8) Turn left onto a lovely lane running between woodland and meadows, and join the Route de Rumel at Vrigne-aux-Bois.

(10) Cross the road and head up the Chausson Valley, ignoring the adjacent paths. You’ll reach a picnic area.

(10) At the picnic area, continue straight on along a wide, sandy path.

(11) At the next junction, take the small road on the left to return to the starting point (S/E).
