Description of the walk

Park at Place d’Issancourt-et-Rumel.

(S/E) Walk up the road towards Rue du Petit Bois and turn left onto it.

(1) Turn right onto Chemin d’Issancourt and enjoy the view over the Robin des Loups valley. Continue along the path, which veers to the left at the edge of the forest. You’ll come out onto a cross-country path near a house.

(2) Follow this path to the left as it enters the forest and leads to a Fork in the road.

(3) Turn right and walk alongside the Belle Fontaine stream. Continue until you reach a junction with a road.

(4) Leave this road and take the path leading into the woodland, continuing on to the hamlet of Rume.

(5) Walk through the hamlet to Rume Castle, then cross the road to take the path opposite. Cross the D57 and continue straight ahead. Pass under a power line and continue to a small roundabout.

(6) Turn sharply left and follow the path northwards until you reach a path on the left.

(7) Take this path on the left to join a wider track; follow this to the right, towards the village. Pass close to the town hall and reach the square in Issancourt-et-Rumel (S/E).

An easy-to-follow and fairly varied route, starting in meadows, followed by a section through the forest and a loop starting from Rume Castle.
Very pleasant overall.

A few hesitations at the start.
A more appropriate text might be:
1. “Head down the D57 and turn left onto Rue du Petit Bois
3. Take the right-hand fork and head down towards the stream.....
4. At the junction with the road, immediately take the path on the left towards the forest
6. At the roundabout, turn sharply left straight away.

The yellow signposting is helpful and reassuring.
