Description of the walk

Park in the car park dedicated to visitors to the site, on the left of the D46 and shortly after the bridge when arriving from the south. Information sign: "Grand site de la Camargue gardoise" (Major site of the Camargue in the Gard).
Marked route, red and white, via theGR®®42

(S/E) Take the boardwalk to the Carbonnière Tower and carefully cross the road to reach it.

(1) Climb to the top for a panoramic view of the surrounding area. Descend, carefully cross the other lane of the road and take the path that heads north, following the long road that runs over a series of bridges, which was once the only land route to Aigues-Mortes.

(2) At the end of this causeway, when the path turns right (and is often flooded in winter), retrace your steps.

(3) Cross the Vistre river and return to the car park (S/E).

A lovely walk along the Marais. We'd always like to be able to do a route, but this is a round trip, though it's still very pretty. On our way back to the car park, we continued to the edge of the canal. It's a nice alternative, with several short walks possible. And the view from the top of the tower is, of course, magnificent and gives you a good idea of the surrounding landscape.
