Park near the secondary school.
(S/E) At the footbridge on Boulevard d’Anjou, from the pavement, take the path leading up into the Bois du Marin.
Please note: at the gate, follow the path running alongside the fence. Do not enter the path behind the gate if it is open: access to the water towers is prohibited.
Continue uphill until you reach the water towers. Once you are near them, take the path on the left and follow it to the Mars Mullo archaeological site (or La Tour aux Fées).
(1) Several information boards are located on the site. Follow the path that crosses the site and descends into the forest. Continue downhill until you reach the Chaoué Theatre and its park.
(2) Turn right and follow the Boulevard Nature, which leads to the park and runs alongside the River Sarthe.
(3) Follow Boulevard Nature; you will pass a picnic table and arrive at point of interest 3. Once you have admired the castle, turn right towards the pastures.
(4) Then turn left and you will reach point of interest 4, which should delight horse lovers (reminder: ‘feeding the animals is prohibited’).
Return to Boulevard Nature by heading down the left-hand side. Follow the River Sarthe and turn right when you reach the edge of the forest. Walk uphill until you reach the sign for La Gèmerie on the left. Continue along the path to La Gèmerie.
(5) At the end of the path, head right into the forest and climb the hill until you see the yellow markings on the white gate of a house; turn left
Walk alongside the houses until you reach the D51.
(6) Caution: do not cross the road to find the old trail markings and follow the pink markings on the IGN map (this route is no longer in use for this section).
The path continues safely on the left, where you share the pavement with cyclists (greenway). Follow the cycle path until you reach the pedestrian crossing.
(7) At the pedestrian crossing, once again do not follow the purple route on the IGN map for the time being. Cross the road carefully to join the signposted path (traffic can be fast and heavy at times).
Take the signposted track on the right (signs on the barrier), after the dead end.
Take the path on the left and you will come to a crossroads of paths. Follow the yellow markings to the right and head into the forest.
(8) Once you have passed through the forest, turn right onto Avenue Pablo Picasso.
(9) After the last house on the avenue on the left, follow the markings to the left and head down to Rue des Boisseliers, which you follow to the right. Take Rue des Tisserands on the right and continue due east. Leave the pavement between numbers 30 and 32 on the street to reach the clearing and join Rue de la Dentellière, which you quickly leave via the path to the right of number 24 on the street.
Wind your way between the sports fields to reach the footbridge, which you take to cross Boulevard d’Anjou safely and join the (S/E).
