Departure from the Plaine Joux cross-country ski centre car park
(S/E) Leave the car park and take the road eastwards. After a right-hand bend, you will reach Les Granges de Plaines Joux.
(1) Leave the road and turn left onto a path. At the end (cross), turn right. Continue along the path to La Tornerie.
(2) At the fork, turn left and continue north-east.
(3) After about 500 m, leave the path and turn 90° to the right along a fence. Continue along the path which passes through the forest and then heads north-northeast. You will reach Chez Truffaz.
(4) Take the path on the left that climbs up towards La Combe. Follow the winding path and ignore a path on the left.
(5) You will come to an alpine track; follow it to the right (north). At a hairpin bend to the right, leave the track and continue straight ahead (north). Ignore any vague paths branching off to the left and continue to Col du Creux.
(6) Turn left (north-west) and descend gently between the fenced meadows. You will come out at the small car park at La Glappaz.
(7) Follow the track to the left towards Combasseran. Pass the chalets and continue along the track. Descend gently to the Ervines chalets.
(8) Continue along the path through the forest, south-southwest, until you reach the road leading to the hamlet of Le Replan.
(9) Take the road on the left for a few dozen metres. Leave the road by taking a path on your left that winds upwards. At a fork (signpost), follow the path to the right towards Miribel. Leave the forest and reach an unnamed pass.
(10) Turn right towards Pointe de Miribel. Follow a path through the mountain pasture and then between rocks. Cross a short steep section and reach the summit.
(11) Leave the summit heading due east and immediately descend a steep path on your right (be careful, your feet may slip). Reach a Way of the Cross below, visible from the summit, and descend along this path. Shortly after reaching an elevation of 1,472 metres, leave the main path and take a trail in the middle of a meadow that leads straight to the hamlet.
(12) In the hamlet, take an alpine track on the left (east).
(13) Leave the road at the "Ajon 1390m" sign and take the path that branches off to the right. Descend between the meadows and reach an intersection taken on the way there.
(3) Continue straight ahead (west-southwest) and, following the same route as on the way there, pass La Tonnerie and Les Granges des Plaines Joux and finally reach the Plaine Joux car park (S/E).
