At La Tamarissière, walk through the village almost to the end of the road, then turn right at the ‘Give Way’ sign by the ferry landing stage (Les Dunes restaurant). You will reach the large car park at the Bunkers de la Tamarissière site.
(S/E) Head to the far end of the car park to reach the first bunkers; then, just ahead of the bunker on the left bearing the large photo of the site, take the path down to the beach. Follow the beach to the left and climb up onto the Hérault sea wall.
(1) Walk back and forth to the right as far as the information boards, then retrace your steps and follow the Hérault along the promenade.
(2) Just past a ranch on the left (curious horses and friendly dogs), take the path on the left.
(3) Further on, just after crossing a stream, follow the path to the right. When you reach a small road, turn right to cross a stream, then take the path to the left. You’ll end up at the end of a small road, below the D612.
(4) Follow the path to the left. Cross a stream via a bridge. Further on, follow the path branching off to the right to pass under the D612, then turn left immediately on the other side and you’ll arrive at the edge of the Canal du Midi.
(5) Turn left onto this cycle/pedestrian path. Further on, you’ll reach a road just before a bridge over another canal.
(6) Take the path on the left before the bridge that runs alongside this other canal. You will come to a large crossroads before a bridge.
(7) Cross the bridge and follow the path as it veers to the right. The path soon veers to the left and continues between marshes and the beach. Further on, the first bunkers come into view.
(8) Turn right between two bunkers when you reach the fence of a tent campsite. Keep to the right of the campsite as you leave the edge of the marsh. Then veer slightly to the right again to follow a path right at the edge of the dune ridge. Further on, pass a water tower on your left and continue straight ahead. You will pass between numerous bunkers before reaching the car park (S/E).
