The Combe de Blanc in Chadouillet

A short hike with no major difficulties, but best avoided during hot weather. The elevation gain is low, and overall the paths are not too difficult and are often marked in yellow. It is possible to descend to the Cotepatière resurgence and back, preferably after rain, otherwise it is dry.

I am providing the details of the "les résurgences" hike, which you walk along for a while.

Description of the walk

Chadouillet hamlet, Place du Planet.

(S/E) Take the small road south and immediately turn right onto Rue de la Cocalière. At the T-junction, turn left and follow the paved Chemin de la Chanisse (marked in yellow). Cross a bridge and continue on the track until you reach a crossroads (Les Croupatières signpost; see the practical information section).

(1) Take the path on the left, then immediately right onto the track. Pass a first path on the right and continue until you reach a second one.

(2) Take the path on the right to join the D901.

(3) Follow it to the left for about 600 metres (it is not very busy, but take care nonetheless). Pass the entrance to a quarry (no entry) and 100 metres further on, you will find a path on the right.

(4) Follow this path (yellow markings) to a T-junction, passing some dolmens, but they are difficult to see among the rocks.

(5) Take the unmarked path on the right, which often runs through the woods and downhill, bringing you back to the D901.

(6) Follow it a few metres to the left and you will immediately find the start of a path (not very obvious) on the right.

(7) Take this path, which widens immediately and is very stony for a few hundred metres. You will reach a fork: Carissoules signpost.

(8) Continue straight ahead towards Chadouillet (yellow markings) and after 600 metres you will find a path that branches off to the right (there is apparently a dolmen on the left).

(9) There are two options:
- The easiest option is to continue straight ahead and follow the yellow markings until you reach a crossroads.
- Those who prefer trails should take the Chemin du Peyrol on the right (this is the route shown on the map) to reach a T-junction. Then turn left to reach a crossroads.

(10) Depending on the option you choose, go either straight ahead or right to reach Place du Planet (S/E).

Notes

Wear sturdy footwear and preferably bring at least one walking stick.

Bring plenty of water.

At point (1), you can turn right (yellow markings) to descend to the resurgence and back; the descent is a little tricky and the resurgence is very dry in summer, but it is a pretty spot.

A beautiful walk in October, combining areas of holm oak and white oak woods with pleasant open spaces offering several viewpoints. A very short section on the road. No particular difficulty.
It is possible to see a resurgence of the cocaliere, however the path, indicated by a specific sign shortly after the start of the hike, can be slippery and dangerous for inexperienced walkers.
