Park in the hamlet of La Chal, which is the ski resort of Saint-Jean-d'Arves.
(S/E) Walk up the road leading to the old village of La Chal. Reach the junction by the small chapel.
(1) Continue along the road climbing opposite, until you reach a right-angle bend marking the end of the road, where you’ll find hiking signs indicating the direction of the Col de la Chal.
(2) Turn left onto the path and continue along the ski trail. Reach the Col de la Chal.
(3) Continue the climb towards a white building, leaving the path leading down to your left. Walk alongside the hill reservoir used for making artificial snow. Reach the white building, the top station of the Col de la Chal chairlift, the highest point of the hike.
(4) Begin the descent and easily reach the Col d'Arves. Take a few more steps to reach the Croix and enjoy a stunning view of the Aiguilles d'Arves from here.
(5) Head down the path on the right. Turn right at the junction with the Sagnettes track. Then pass under the La Chal chairlift, continue on and return to the junction by the chapel that you passed on the way up.
(1) Turn left and follow the path back along the same route as on the way out to return to the car park in the hamlet of La Chal (S/E).
