Description of the walk

Departure from the hamlet of Les Chambons: car park opposite the chapel with four to five parking spaces.

(S/E) Go around the chapel on the left and take the Route du Poingt (track) across a river. Climb up several hairpin bends.

(1) At a hairpin bend to the left, leave the track and continue straight ahead (south-west) on a white path towards the Buffettes building. Ignore a path on the right (altitude 1527) and continue climbing. Pass a chalet on the left and you will come to a crossroads.

(2) Leave the track temporarily to follow a path on the left, which rejoins it further on. Pass in front of the Pré Vernay mountain chalets. Then walk along the helipad and continue climbing to reach La Traverse (chalet).

(3) Head left (east) towards Pointe du Châtel. Climb a very steep grassy slope to reach the summit.

(4) Turn right (south-southwest) and descend slightly. Then climb back up the ridge to reach Petit Agnelin.

(5) Descend slightly to a saddle (elevation 2,691 metres) and begin the final ascent to the summit of Cime des Torches.

(6) Descend via the same route to return to the car park (S/E).

  • Drinking water: at the entrance to the hamlet of Les Chambons.
  • You can start the hike from the hamlet of Le Poingt, higher up on the route. Accessible by car in summer via the track.
