Park in the car park on the side of the D74a road, located at the Pont de la Coumelade bridge, after the hamlet of L'Allau when coming from Le Tech.
(S/E) Return to the hamlet and take the first track on the left, signposted "Refuge de Sant-Guillem", yellow markings. The track turns left in front of a hay barn and becomes a path which you follow to the refuge.
(1) Pass in front of the magnificent Sant-Guillem refuge and join the track coming from La Llau. Take it on the left, signposted "Tour du Canigou". Take theGRP®® du Tour du Canigou, marked in yellow and red. 200 m further on, just after a house (ruin), there is a path that cuts across the track and takes you directly to the magnificent Sant-Guillem Chapel, which is unfortunately closed. Directional signpost.
(2) Then rejoin the track and follow it northwards, signposted "Col Baixo", for about 1 km. From this point onwards, it is a circular route. You will soon reach the Cal Picotós de Baix fork. Directional signpost.
(3) Take the track on the right that goes uphill, signposted Col Serre Vernet and Coll Baixó written in felt-tip pen, and continue to follow the Tour du Canigou, marked in yellow and red. You will come out at Coll Baixó. Directional signpost
(4) Leave the Tour du Canigou trail and take the track that continues opposite, heading north-north-west. There are no more markings after this point. You will arrive at a small open area with a gate and an enclosure.
Leave the path on the left (signpost) and continue towards Devèze de Valbonnais. Pass through a scrap metal barrier. This track leads to Torrent de la Coumelade (Comalada).
(5) The stream can be crossed easily (except during snowmelt and after heavy storms) at the yellow markings on wooden posts. Then take the path opposite, which climbs south-east, marked in yellow. Caution: confusing area.
Climb up the north-facing gully, following the cairns (markings are not very clear) to an altitude of 1,770 m. From there, the path is clear again and marked with yellow markings. Follow it eastwards.
This path, which then climbs slowly, leads to the Cabane Vieille. Observation on 26 October 2025: the hut has been repainted and is very clean.
(6) Pass the hut; the trail is less visible for 200 metres. Walk along the hillside to the rock face to find the well-marked yellow trail again. Arrive at Roque Coucoulère (Roca Cuculera).
(7) Turn right onto the path that descends in a hairpin bend, signposted Saint-Guillem. This is the Tour du Vallespir route, marked in yellow and red, which takes you back to the crossroads of the circular.
(2) Turn left and follow the same route you took on the way out to return to the car park (S/E).
