The Haut de l'A circular route starting from Girmont and via Le Dropt

Park in the large car park in front of the church in Girmont-Val-d'Ajol.

(S/E) Leave the car park by turning right onto the D83, pass the tourist information point housed in the chalot (farm outbuilding), then walk along the cemetery wall and continue to the next crossroads known as the Croix de Mission (1875).

(1) Just before the cross, turn right and head down the small road leading to the Cascade du Géhard. As you come out of the bend, turn left onto a path.

(2) At the first junction, turn left onto the path leading uphill, marked with a Blue Ring. Then follow the ridge path through the forest to reach the Haut de l’A, the highest point in this forest.

(3) Turn sharply left towards the microlight strip, following the Blue Ring markings.

(4) Continue to the left, passing the hangar via a path that quickly leads onto a small tarmac road just north of Le Dropt.

(5) Cross the junction and follow the road opposite back to the village: Blue Ring markings. There is another cross just before the farm, atop a stone outcrop. You will come out onto the D83.

(1) Turn left, passing in front of the Mission Cross, and return to the church car park (S/E).

Wear waterproof shoes if the weather is wet, as the first part of the route is on a path prone to large puddles.

If you’re lucky, you’ll be able to see microlights taking off or landing on the field next to the path.

(5) Taking the road on the right, you can follow a short, unmarked circular route around the hamlet of Le Dropt (local produce) featuring typical regional farms and a beautiful wayside cross: allow about 15 minutes.
