The Étang d'Ouée from Gosné

The Étang d’Ouée, the destination of this walk, is a body of water ideal for beginners to canoeing and kayaking. Close to the village of Gosné, the route takes you along quiet country lanes but mainly through sunken lanes, which may have small streams running through the middle after heavy rain.

Description of the walk

In the village of Gosné, park in the car park at Place de l'Église.

(S/E) Head west along Rue du Calvaire.
After passing the Town Hall on your right, take Allée des Champs on your left.

(1) At the junction with Rue de la Forêt, turn right onto Rue de Bel-Air and go round the wayside cross by turning left. Continue along this road to the water tower.

(2) Cross over and take the path on the right (wooden barrier restricting access to pedestrians only). Continue along this sunken path until you reach a small road.
Turn left, then, after 100m, follow the road to the right towards La Martinais.

(3) Continue along the path opposite, slightly to the left (barrier). Walk along the left bank of the Ruisseau de la Saudrais below, which runs west-north-west before turning north, leaving the Bédouanerie on your left.
Continue straight on until you reach a small road.

(4) Turn right and follow this road. Before reaching the buildings on the right, take a path on the left that enters the woods to reach the banks of the pond.
Follow the path along the bank which, after a bend, joins the road.

(5) Turn left and then right onto the first road towards Cossibé.
At the junction, turn left. The road becomes a track which joins the road after Beauséjour.
Turn right and follow this road.

(6) Cross the D102 and continue straight ahead. Turn right onto the second road and continue along the track straight ahead when it bends to the right.

(7) Go round the transformer by turning right. In the bend, keep left and then, after 20m, take the track on the left, heading east.

(8) Turn right onto the road. Follow the Huberdière and then the Porte. Follow the road round a left-hand bend to reach the first houses of La Mottais Pot.

(9) Turn right and follow the path, first along the edge of the field then along a sunken lane between rows of trees.
When you reach the tennis courts, turn left. Exit to the right of the municipal garages and join the main road.

(10) Turn left, walk past the school and head for the car park at Place de l’Église (S/E).

Hello,
A lovely walk to enjoy in dry weather, with plenty of wooded paths. It allows you to explore paths you wouldn’t know how to access without a map. There’s a problem near La Rousselière and marker no. 7: the path is either invisible or inaccessible in summer as there was a maize field there; The second issue is also near the transformer (we didn’t understand it), but we took a path a local pointed out to us to get back on track towards Bon Air. As I know Gosné a bit, it’s a shame the route doesn’t go past the wash house in the La Margerie area after the sports ground/municipal garages (on the route), but I think this park is quite new. For your information, if you go through this park and past the wash house, then follow the lovely little hamlet, you can continue by crossing the road and taking the path on the right; this will bring you back to the cemetery, near the village centre (it adds a little to the walk but it’s a pleasant spot). I highly recommend this route; if you do it early in the morning or at sunset, you might spot some deer...

A lovely walk, but not one to attempt immediately after a storm – the paths turn into streams

The description is very well done, but some of the path entrances are hard to spot through the tall grass in May (at point 2, the wooden gate is hidden, and at point 7, I missed the path leading to the transformer).

This short walk could be quite nice, but... the narrow sections on the paths are often unpleasant due to the ruts left by mountain bikes: a special mention – negative – for the section between 2 and 3.
It’s a real shame, as the ‘path’ sections are obviously more picturesque than the roads!

A short, leisurely walk – quite pleasant once you’ve left the village. I can confirm that in winter, after it’s rained, the sunken paths turn into streams, so do remember to wear waterproof shoes or even wellies.
