Park at the Parc Montfeury car park, Avenue Beauséjour, Cannes.
(S/E) Drive up Avenue Beauséjour, heading north.
Turn right at Boulevard Mont Fleury and immediately turn left onto Avenue Val Vert.
(1) Turn left onto Avenue Val Vert and walk a few metres to see the remains of the funicular's departure station, built in the neo-Provençal style to resemble a rural chapel.
On your return, continue left onto Boulevard du Mont Fleury.
After 50 metres, take the shortcut on the right via the stairs, then follow the road for 100 metres.
(2) At the first hairpin bend to the right, leave the road and enter the wooded area on the left. The old funicular railway track and a damp valley immediately come into view.
Continue along the path beside the tracks. The slope is fairly steep, like a mountain hiking trail. Cross two bridges over a road below. Discover the environment of the 1930s.
Continue climbing, passing under a bridge.
(3) Leave the railway line on the right at thefourth concrete structure. Intersection "bridge and path".
Turn left and pass under the bridge, heading north. Continue along the old Siagne Canal path.
(4) At the tarmac road junction, turn right onto Boulevard Beausoleil, then turn right at the junction, Boulevard Beausoleil, Boulevard de l'Observatoire.
(5) At the crossroads, turn right onto Avenue de la Gare du Funiculaire (there is no sign for the avenue).
You will arrive at the remains of the funicular railway station and the Super Cannes Observatory Tower, where there is a picnic area.
Turn back towards Boulevard de l'Observatoire.
(5) Turn right and continue downhill on Boulevard de l'Observatoire.
(6) At the crossroads, leave Boulevard de l'Observatoire and continue straight on Avenue de l'Estérel. Turn left just before the funicular bridge.
(3) Follow the same route back down the railway line to the hairpin bends on Boulevard Montfleury.
(2) Follow Boulevard Montfleury then Avenue Beauséjour and return to the Parc Monfleury car park (S/E).
