This walk starts at the Grande-Bretagne roundabout (or Place Grande Bretagne). You can park your car in the neighbourhood or simply take the bus (line 1) to the Grande-Bretagne stop.
(S/E) Head north and turn right onto Passage Sainte-Catherine, before the fishmonger’s. At the end of this cul-de-sac, take the staircase on the left and continue along this street until you reach Rue Sainte-Catherine. At the end of this alleyway, continue along the section that branches off to the right until you reach a junction. Stay on the same pavement until the next junction.
(1) Cross over to the right and follow Rue des Orangers to the end, then take Allée Simone Veil. Cross Boulevard Carnot, turn left, then immediately right onto Rue Saint-Sauveur. Continue along the right-hand pavement until you reach number 216.
(2) Take Chemin des Escarasses, which climbs through the old part of Le Cannet. You’ll reach a tarmac section; turn left until you come to a junction with Route des Bréguières.
(3) Cross the road carefully and turn right to head up Route des Bréguières, on the left-hand pavement. Keep the road on your right until you reach the Canal de la Siagne footpath.
(4) Cross the road again and take this path; the entrance is marked by a large stone. Stay on this path until you reach the edge of a residential complex, with a swimming pool below, then take the road on the right (it’s a cul-de-sac with very little traffic) and join the main road at a hairpin bend.
(5) Cross this road carefully and continue along the path that starts opposite. This is a promenade built on the site of the old Siagne Canal. It runs alongside the largest villas in the hills above Cannes. Continue along this path until you reach Avenue Ziem.
(6) Follow the path of the old Siagne Canal to the left; further on, you’ll reach Avenue de Vallauris.
(7) Cross this avenue, head down to the right and, when you reach a park, turn immediately left to continue along the Canal de la Siagne path until you reach the old Super-Cannes funicular.
(8) Follow the same route in the opposite direction until you reach Avenue Ziem, which marks the entrance to the Terrefial neighbourhood.
(6) Leave the path to join this avenue, and turn left when you reach Villa Terrefial. Just past this villa, turn right onto Chemin de Terrefial. At the bottom of this first path, cross Avenue Cézanne, and continue along Chemin de Terrefial until you reach Avenue Renoir.
(9) Turn right onto this avenue, ignore the two streets branching off to either side, and continue along Boulevard d’Oxford, then onto Avenue Van Loo, until you reach a pedestrian alleyway by the telephone box.
(10) Walk down this lane until you reach Chemin Morgon, then carry on until you reach Rue des Coteaux. Cross the road at the pedestrian crossing, turn right and walk up this street until you reach the Résidence Pen Chai. At the junction, stay on the pavement, turn left and walk up Avenue Thiers until you reach Avenue Gaston Cauvin.
(11) Follow this street until you reach Chemin de la Bustière. Walk to the end of this lane, then continue along Traversée de Villamont. Next, take the numerous steps on Impasse de Villamont. At the end of this cul-de-sac, you’ll reach Square Colbert; cross it to reach Rue Colbert. Walk up this street to the end to reach Place Grande Bretagne (S/E).
