Park in the car park behind the school on Route de la Salcée in Bourg-Bruche, the first left coming from the D1420 from Saales or Schirmeck.
(S/E) From Rue des Grands Prés, turn left onto Route de la Salcée (D50) heading east, passing under the SNCF bridge. Walk a few hundred metres along the D50. When you reach the first houses on the left, take the path on the left that goes up into the forest, following the blue triangle markings heading north-east. Continue to follow the blue triangle markings.
(1) When you reach Alhan, you will have a beautiful view of the Bruche Valley and see a field of fir trees. Take the path on the right that climbs steeply (blue triangle).
(2) You will have a beautiful view of Climont. Continue along the path.
(3) You will arrive at a field where cows are grazing.
Please note: at this point, a farmer has fenced off the Blue Triangle marked path with electric wire.
You will need to descend to the right into the forest for about a hundred metres, following the fence, until you reach a forest path. Follow the path eastwards until you reach an intersection (651m).
(4) Turn right towards the forest due west, marked with a yellow cross.
(5) Three-way junction. Turn left, following the yellow cross markings, heading west then south until you reach the D50 road at a place called l'Évreuil. Turn left and walk east along the road for a few hundred metres, then turn right onto the forest path at the next intersection (557m), marked with a yellow cross.
(6) Take the path on the left, marked with a yellow cross, heading south-east.
(7) Intersection. Turn right (be careful, when I passed through, a huge pile of wood on the path was blocking the way and the markings). Go around the pile of wood and continue south along the path marked with yellow crosses. Follow the yellow cross markings to the top of Climont, ignoring any crossroads.
(8) Arrival at the Julius Tower at the top of Climont. Climb the tower for a 360° view (Bruche Valley, Val de Villé, Saint-Dié, Donon, etc.). Continue along the path marked with yellow crosses, heading west. On a clear day, you can see Haut-Koenigsbourg Castle in the distance.
(9) Take the path that descends to the right towards the south (be careful, I didn't see it when I was there, so it's not very visible). Continue along the path to the Route des Crêtes.
(10) Turn right and take the forest path that leads into the forest, marked with yellow rectangles, heading south-west.
(11) Arrive at the source of the Bruche. Continue along the path marked with yellow rectangles heading north-west then west.
(12) Turn right onto the forest track, marked with a yellow rectangle, heading west (note: the markings are not very visible at the intersection). Continue along the forest track (muddy) to the D50 road. Turn left onto the road, heading west, and continue straight on to the car park at Bourg-Bruche (S/E).
! I was blown away by the wildness of the area, which I think is one of the most beautiful in the entire mountain range. Le Climont is a real summit climb, going straight from the bottom to the top. In that sense, it's reminiscent of alpine climbs. The only downside, not on the map but on the ground, is that the markings are minimal and even dilapidated (faded paint on a tree hidden by branches, for example), but that's just a minor detail.
