Roche Chèvre cave from Détain-et-Bruant

This hike, mainly in the forest and on the heights of the Côte-d'Or, will take you to the vast Grotte de Roche Chèvre cave, which is well worth a visit. Please note, however, that there are two passages with tall grass.

Description of the walk

Coming from Collonges-lès-Bévy, park at the entrance to Détain-et-Bruant on the D109 next to the wash house.

(S/E) Take the road towards the village and turn right at the first street to reach the town hall.

(1) Turn right and carefully cut across a footpath, then take the D8 road to the left until you reach a path on the left.

(2) Take this path, which may be overgrown with tall grass at the beginning, depending on the season. Continue straight ahead, leaving a path on your left, and enter the forest. Pass the first path on your right and continue for 250 metres.

(3) Turn right onto the straight path heading north which, at elevation 601, curves northeast and arrives within sight of a cabin.

(4) Turn left onto the path heading west and leave the first path on your right.

(5) Turn right onto the straight path that passes through a slightly karstic area before joining the D8, which you should follow to the right for about 100 metres.

(6) Turn left onto the Roche Chèvre forest road, follow it for 2 km, then turn right onto a small, steep path that leads to the Roche Chèvre cave.

(7) After visiting the cave, go back down the path and take the forest road north-east to a crossroads.

(8) Take a sharp right turn onto the path heading south-west, then south, and continue until you reach a fork.

(9) Turn left to the east, then south to the D104, which you follow for 50 metres until you reach an intersection.

(10) Carefully take the D104 on the right towards Détain-et-Bruant, drive past a poultry farm and arrive at the entrance to Le Poiset.

(11) Turn left to drive along a field, bordering a wooded strip. This section may also be overgrown with tall grass. Enter the Bois de Pierre Saux forest and drive a few metres.

(12) Take the marked path on the left at the edge of the woods (route de Pierre Saux), which leads back to Détain-et-Bruant and continues along a street.

(13) At the cross, descend to the left, carefully crossing the D8 hairpin bend, and arrive at the town hall.

(1) Return to the car park via the same streets you took at the start (S/E).
