Description of the walk

Park in the car park of the Salle des Fêtes d'Arcenant.

(S/E) Take the road on the right for about 50 metres.

(1) Take the path on the right, just above the village hall. Ignore the path on the left and continue straight ahead towards the south.

2. Cross the D25 with caution and follow the path opposite. At the crossroads (elevation 138), turn left towards Chevrey.

(3) At the crossroads by the pylon, continue straight ahead and continue along Rue de la Nisette.

(4) Once you reach the hamlet, take the second right onto Rue d'Aval.

(5) Turn left, then immediately right onto a tarmac road which turns into a track after a few dozen metres. Further on, ignore a vineyard track on the left and keep right.

(6) Turn left, then left again a few metres further on. You will come out onto Rue des Berthières. Continue for about 20 metres to the right.

(7) Turn left onto Rue de Chevrey. Head down towards the main street of Meuilley, Rue Philibert Caumont, and turn left. Continue along Rue Gabriel Bachot.

(8) Turn right onto Rue de Broin, then left onto Rue de Chevannes.

(9) Turn right to enter the Combe de Chevannes. At the Chassin crossroads, go straight on into Rue du Pont, which continues into Rue du Lavoir before leading to Rue de la Fontaine in Chevannes.

(10) Turn left, then left again onto Rue de Bruant.

(11) Leave the street and follow the path that branches off to the left.

(12) Follow the path that climbs to the left. It curves left, then right, before heading southwest and then south to join the D25 at a place called Les Fougères.

(13) Take the hairpin bend to the right on this road and continue for about 500 metres.

(14) Leave the road and take the path on the left (yellow markings). Immediately turn right (elevation 486). A short stop at Trou du Duc is a must. Be careful, it is easy to walk past without seeing it. Arrive at elevation 481.

(15) Take the hairpin bend to the left and descend Combe Pertuis. Enjoy the beautiful surroundings. Further on, leave the path that climbs back up to the D25 on your left and continue straight ahead.

(16) Take a refreshing break at the Doua spring. In summer, this is a lovely spot for a picnic or to cool your feet. When you're ready to leave, continue straight ahead along the stream and enjoy the restored wash house at the end of the path.

After the wash house, pass the petrol station and turn right onto Rue de Beaune. Return to the car park at the Salle des Fêtes d'Arcenant (S/E).

An unpretentious, easy hike alternating between villages, vineyards, cliffs, shaded areas and sunny spots. Note that there were a lot of people towards the end along the stream (after point 16). A nice hike.

This unpretentious hike, as its author says, really charmed us. Indeed, along a variety of paths, alternating between sunny and shady sections, we discovered a beautiful environment made up of villages, vineyards, cliffs and valleys, enhanced by a beautiful trail.
There are no technical difficulties on dry ground.
The GPS track was still useful, especially at point (15) where the small path on the left is not very visible.
For those who, like us, are unfamiliar with the Trou du Duc, I should point out that you need to look for a small metal platform at the edge of the cliff (14), where you lift a trapdoor to climb down a ladder into the Trou du Duc (the bird).
We stopped for lunch at (16), which is indeed very pleasant.
If you like honey, don't hesitate to stop at the friendly, passionate beekeeper's in Arcenant, whose house, with two "honey" signs, is located in front of the wash house (16).
A big thank you to "chmorglube" for this wonderful suggestion.

The only downside was the description of the hike. Street names are given as directions, but these names are not always indicated on the streets in question, particularly on leaving the village of Meuilley, where we had to use our satnav.
Otherwise, a very beautiful walk!
