The full walk starts from the square in Salmchâteau opposite the church, and on the way back you can make a detour to the Coticule Museum. It is signposted with black symbols on a yellow background (TPS).
If you’d prefer to visit the museum later, you can also park your car in the cemetery car park (Chemin de la Bossette) and start the walk from there. This will shorten the route by one kilometre. Please note that in this case, the Chemin de la Bossette climbs to your left before reaching Arkose Quarry No. 1; there are signposts, but coming from the cemetery, you will be following them in the wrong direction. If, after a few metres, you reach Arkose Quarry No. 1, you will need to retrace your steps for a few dozen metres.
Right from the start, the climb up La Bossette will put yourcalves to the test; the slope is steep and narrow, andimpassable for people with reduced mobility or with a pushchair. If necessary, you’ll need to bring a foldable pushchair and carry your toddler along the 700 metres leading to the Celtic Camp. After that, simply follow the signposts.
500 metres past the gold-panning mound, a stony path followed by a farm track will take you back to Salmchâteau via the village of Bèche.
