Description of the walk

(S) Set off again from the Gouille des Fours bivouac, following a tricky path along the Torrent des Fours: there are a few red and yellow markers on wooden posts.

(1) Turn right towards the Passage de la Grande Forclaz, up a steep climb above a snowfield. In any case, the snowfield (very late and visible in summer) is clearly visible from the bivouac and shows the direction.

(2) Once you reach the pass, keep going in the same direction and follow the ridge path to reach a very exposed section crossing the slope, then take an uphill path on the left edge below the Ambrevetta: there are a few markings on the ground.

(3) Head right and climb up the shoulder, leading to Tardevant, for a 360° view.

(4) Turn back.

(3) Take the path on the right to reach the top of the valley, starting with the clearly visible path below the ridge, then descend steeply to reach Lac de Tardevant.

(5) Descend to a track that leads to the Tardevant mountain farm with a sheep pen. Take it on the right and follow it for about 200 m.

(6) At the signpost, turn right onto the path that leads into the forest.

(7) At the three-way junction, descend to the left tothe Bombardellaz refuge (altitude 1,537 m).

(8) Keep right on the path that passes the refuge and leads to the Bombardellaz chalets: there is a sheep pen that you will need to go around.

(9) Continue towards the Planet farm.

(10) At the farm, a sign indicates the Col des Annes via two paths. Take the right-hand path via the Pointe Percée refuge (longer) or the left-hand path via the Col de Borne Ronde (route choice). You will soon reach a junction. Ignore the path that descends to the left, closest to the torrent, and follow the higher path. You will reach a crossroads.

(11) Turn right onto the path that climbs up a log staircase and leads to the Col de Borne Ronde (elevation 1,681 metres).

(12) Turn right onto the path along the ridge and continue to the Tête des Annes (elevation 1869).

(13) Turn left onto the wide path you took the day before, which descends to the Col des Annes car park (E).

Notes

Non-drinkable water is available at Torrent des Fours, Refuge de la Bombardellaz, and Ruisseau du Déluge towards Plattuy (trek completed in mid-July).

The Ambrevetta pass is exposed and requires commitment from hikers.

There are numerous sheep pens that require you to leave the trail to get around them.

At the Col des Annes car park, there are several local restaurants selling cheese from the hamlet's farms.
