Please note that parking in Corte, at the foot of the Musée de la Corse in A Furtezza, is subject to a charge (free on Sundays).
For this reason, we parked in the free parking lot opposite the Corte train station, or alternatively, you can park at the station. This means walking back up to the starting point, which is actually at the foot of the Musée de la Corse.
(S/E) From the parking lot, head towards the tennis courts, skirting them to the left.
(1) Pass the soccer stadium, Avenue du 9 Septembre, towards the Citadelle de Corte.
Drive alongside the Corte Intercommunal Hospital (Annexe de Tattone), then reach the bridge over the Restonica.
(2) Cross this bridge over the river. Stay on the main road, Rue du Pont Vieux, and join the bridge over the Tavignano.
(3) After the bridge, turn left immediately onto the D823; this is followed by a good climb to the official starting point.
(4) Head north-west, signposted "Passerelle di u Russulinu / Refuge de la Sega", orange markers. This is the Mare a Mare Nord trail, which clearly indicates the way.
At the first crossroads, turn right and continue following the Orange signs.
(5) Small oratory dedicated to the Virgin Mary (a madunina di Ficaghjola: little Madonna). Take time to read the description.
Further on, ignore the left-hand path leading down to the Tavignano and turn right, continuing along the main path.
(6) Cross the Tribbiatoghia stream.
(7) Cross the Antia stream, where the stone huts can be used as rest areas. Continue along the Mare a Mare to reach a stele set into the rock.
(8) Continue along the path, crossing the Peccaio stream. Continue due west to reach the Russulinu (Rossolino) footbridge.
(9) Descend to the Tavignano and enjoy a swim in the beautiful basin.
(10) Take the same route back to the starting parking lot (S/E).
