Car park in Lods, on the other side of the bridge, towards Longeville, along the river, at a place called Les Forges. When you get out of the car, you will see the Moulin banal, the church, undoubtedly one of the most photographed places in Franche-Comté, and the fortified house. Yellow and blue markings.
(S/E) Cross the bridge. Turn left and at the small fountain, go up Rue de Reine on the right. Stop briefly at No. 6 to see the remains of the lintel depicting Adam and Eve. A little further up, before the wooden calvary, go down to the left towards the wash house and its beautiful view of the river and the Moine de la Vallée. Go back up the more or less well-maintained path on the other side of the fountain to reach a narrow street and the Rue sur la Place, which you follow downhill to the right for a few steps. Turn left up Rue de l'Église. Visit Saint-Théodule Church to see its clock mechanism (at the entrance on the left).
(1) Turn right immediately after the church and its vicarage garden, and you will soon find a grassy path that passes above the fortified house. Stay on this beautiful hillside path with lovely views of the other side and soon, on the right, you will see the imposing silhouette of the Roche du Soleil overlooking Mouthier-Haute-Pierre and the start of the Gorges de Nouailles. At the tarmac road, descend to the right until you pass through a small section of woodland, looking out for a signpost about 30 metres before a "crossroads" road sign.
(2) Take the path to the right of the circular Boucle de Sainte-Foy, passing at the foot of some beautiful rocks. You will come back to the road, going down it to the right until you reach the village. Leave Rue des Corvées on your right and go down Rue Robert Dame, passing a wash house and some beautiful old houses full of character until you reach the crossroads.
(3) Turn left onto Rue Pavée and look up at the façade of No. 2 to see a beautiful carved head. Visit the Church of Saint-Laurent to see a Virgin and Child and a Saint-Vernier, patron saint of winegrowers, in 15th-century polychrome wood.
Leaving the church, go down to the left for about twenty metres, then turn right into Rue de l'Église. Then turn left into Grande Rue and go to the corner to say hello to Saint-Antoine, accompanied by his pet, a pig!
(4) Go down to the left to Route d'Ornans, crossing it carefully at the pedestrian crossing to go down Rue de Charrière. At the next hairpin bend, go down to the left, then turn right into Rue de la Marsotte, heading towards "Rocher du Moine". At the stop sign, continue straight ahead on Rue du Pont, passing the wash house to cross the Loue River on the old bridge with its beautiful view of the Roche de la Baume de Syratus.
(5) Turn right up Rue de Longeville. After a short climb, the road reaches a plateau and joins a gravel path on the left. Continue straight ahead for another 50 metres until you reach a marker post indicating a path on the right.
(6) Enter the woods via this path descending to the right. Continue through the pasture-orchard, which is beautifully flowered in spring. At the bottom, close the metal gate behind you to reach Rue du Leat Poutot, which you take to the left to return to the car park (S/E).
