Garrel (cours d'eau) - Affluent de la Buèges walks
The sharp limestone pavements of Saint-Jean-de Buèges
This is a magnificent hike in the hills above Saint-Jean-de-Buèges and its valley. The village is worth exploring on the way back. The Buèges valley is well worth a visit. We enjoyed repeating this hike in January 2025. Cold weather but bright sunshine. No notable changes except for a new muddy patch at point 6 and the absence of the pierced rock at point 5. The hike is almost entirely on a balcony, so you'll be in the sun.

The Cirque de Navacelles from the Causse de Blandas
Between the Causse de Blandas and the Gorges de la Vis, the entire route lies within the “Causses and the Cévennes” site, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. On the drovers' road linking Languedoc to Aubrac, used by sheep to reach the summer pastures of Aigoual, take the time to observe the unique world of the Causse. To round off the day, enjoy the spectacular views of the Gorges de la Vis offered by the descent of the Travers de Navacelles.
Les Besses-Saint-Guilhem
Return to Saint Guilhem le Désert from Les Besses.
Saint-Guilhem - Les Besses
First part of a two-day circular route from Saint-Guilhem-le-Désert to the southern Larzac.
Ascent via the Cirque de l'Infernet to reach Mont Saint-Baudille and arrive on the plateau.
Following a fire on 5 April 2023 on the heights of Saint-Guilhem-le-Désert and Saint-Jean-de-Fos, the route remains passable but the Fenestrettes PR® is affected, as is the Arles route (GR®653). Please check with the Saint-Guilhem – Vallée de l'Hérault Tourist Office for information on the passability of the route.
