It was a beautiful hike, mainly through woods, with very beautiful, diverse forests. Forestry work disrupted our route, and you need a GPS to get back on track.
We cut across the Fourchy Pass between points 11 and 13.

We turned off before the Col de Fouchy to avoid taking the paved road to Prérebois, otherwise it would have been a great ride!

A superb hike offering impressive geological formations and magnificent views of the Villé and Ste Marie aux Mines valleys. The varied vegetation encountered along the very shaded route is also of real interest. Note the numerous benches and tables where you can rest if necessary during this long hike, which can be challenging but is truly fascinating. Thank you to the author for this wonderful discovery.

One small downside: the starting point is difficult to find by car. I parked elsewhere in Neubois, about 200 metres away. The route is quite physically demanding, especially in the first 3-4 kilometres (the circuit is advertised as difficult) and is suitable for hikers in good physical condition. There are some beautiful rocks to see along the route, particularly the fairy rock and Chalmont rock (the latter is not recommended for those who are afraid of heights). The estimated time is perhaps a little exaggerated (7 hours 50 minutes), which I mention as it may put some people off. The weather was overcast (31/07/25) and it was perfect.

A beautiful, shaded hike with varying degrees of elevation, accessible to all levels.
Please note: to find the start/finish point more easily, take Rue des Pins in the village of Neubois (opposite a car park and a playground behind the car park) and follow it to the end, then turn left onto the narrow Rue des Chalets. When you reach Place des Charpentiers, turn right onto the stony path that climbs up alongside a property until you reach a grassy parking area at Notre Dame des Bois. (The place called Masser is unknown to locals and not signposted).
The description can be tricky to follow. The IGN map was very helpful.
We adapted our route to avoid the paved sections of the Col de Fouchy in Prérébois and the crossing of La Vancelle, which we bypassed via the more pleasant Route Forestière de Hintereck.
We will definitely do this hike again.
