Walk starting from Beauregard, from the car park opposite the Rive Gauche restaurant, but parking is also available at Place Jean Moulin. Please note that this walk can also be started from the centre of Fareins, at the Place de la Bascule car park (opposite Château Bouchet). This route is marked with hiking posts and will soon be supplemented with yellow markings.
(S/E) Depending on your chosen car park, head for the suspension bridge or the church.
From the 20th-century Beauregard suspension bridge crossing the Saône, head towards the church, go up Rue de l'Octroi, turn right onto Rue Hector Berlioz and then left onto Place Jean Moulin.
(1) Head towards the Church of Saint Jean-François d'Assise in the centre of the village, then take the small street opposite the church and climb the steps to Rue Gui de Chabeu. Turn right, then left into Allée de la Saladine, a small street that turns into a small dirt track.
(2) Walk along the grounds of the private Château Beauregard, originally built in medieval times and remodelled in the 19th century, and continue along Allée de la Saladine.
(3) At the crossroads at La Saladine, turn left towards Fareins.
(4) At Grand Croix, cross the D44 carefully and take the dirt track on the right, then the first track on the left, about 600 metres away.
(5) At Le Gourlas, turn right onto Chemin de la Grande Croix.
(6) In Le Gourlas, enjoy an exhibition at the Galerie la Praye.
(7) Then, pass in front of the Gourlas dovecote and continue straight on to the centre of Fareins.
Turn right to walk past the Church of Notre-Dame de l'Assomption on your left.
(The Place de la Bascule car park is a good place to start your walk from Fareins).
After the church, the 19th-century Château Bouchet occupies a central place in the village. Take a break in its park, which boasts a wide variety of tree species.
(8) In front of Château Bouchet, turn left onto Chemin du Payard, then at the three-way junction, take Chemin du Colomban on the right. Then, at the intersection, turn left onto Chemin du Perrat, then take the first right onto Chemin d'Haleins (a small gravel road that turns into a dirt track). At the end of the field, turn left onto Chemin du Seigneret, then left again onto Chemin des Rouettes to reach Le Perrat.
(9) At Le Perrat, turn right towards Château de Fléchères. Then, at the intersection, turn left.
(10) At the hiking signpost, turn right towards the château.
(11) At Le Bicheron, turn left and then cross Les Mouilles, keeping to the left.
(12) At the corner of a grove, just before a new residential area, turn left and head towards the entrance to Château de Fléchères.
:13:: You will then see a view of Italy with the imposing Château de Fléchères. Built in the 17th century, it was decorated with frescoes in 1632 by Pietro Ricchi. Turn right and walk along the French garden and the English park.
Cross the departmental roadwith caution and take the road opposite, towards the Saône.
(14) Pass by the ferryman's house, which bears witness to the former ford, a crossing point to the right bank of the Saône, where you can see La Grange du Diable. Then take the towpath on the left and follow the Saône to Beauregard, via the towpath, and join the (S/E).


Be careful between WP 10 and 11, when you have to turn left, as this section was almost impassable for 200 metres, overgrown with brambles, nettles and tall vegetation. I had to go through the cornfield...
