Description of the walk

Start from the car park at the Estillac market hall.

(S/E) With your back to the school, head towards the far end of the car park then take the sandy path between two grassy patches until you reach a road.

(1) At the road, Chemin Champs de Lassalle, turn left until you reach a bend in the uphill stretch.

(2) Turn off onto the Sentier Citoyen (signposted), which climbs steeply towards the hamlet of Le Buscon, thus avoiding a stretch of road. Continue uphill along the Chemin du Buscon until you reach Rue du Sartre, which you follow to the left until you reach a roundabout.

(3) At the roundabout, cross over and continue straight ahead along the Chemin du Château to the church.

(4) At the church, turn left onto the road leading down past the cemetery. Walk down to the D931 road and cross it carefully. Continue straight ahead along Chemin de Mariotte, then walk through the hamlet of the same name. At the end of the road, follow the grassy path that descends to the left of the houses, then continue along Chemin de la Jaroussette.

(5) Turn left onto Chemin de Bordeneuve for about 100 m, then, before a left-hand bend, continue along the grassy path that descends opposite to a ford.

(6) At the stream marking the boundary with the commune of Moirax, cross the ford then head right onto theGR® 652 White and Red marked path. In wet weather, a section may be slippery; you can take a detour via the meadow at the edge.

(7) Leave the path on your right, go round the meadow on the left, then head up into the woods to the Route de Massée, which you should take to the right, following theGR® 652 White/Red orPR® Blue markings. Follow this road to the Stop sign.

(8) At the stop sign, turn left onto Route de Ségougnac and pass the hamlet of Varenne.

(9) At the entrance to the woods, turn left onto Route de Gravère, which descends towards Estillac (sign and cross). At the D931, Route de Condom, cross carefully at the pedestrian crossing, head left onto the path with a cycle lane and footpath, then enter the village on the right, Chemin de Montalivet, then right again, Chemin de Peyrelong, and finally left, Chemin de Piouzet, to reach the market hall car park (S/E).

A pleasant route to follow, with just one downside: a bit too much of a "city" feel at the start. The second half of the route is more "rural".

We decided to shorten the walk to avoid crossing the busy D931 with the dog. Starting from point (5), we went to (6), (7), (8) and (9) – very pleasant paths, with a slightly busy road at the start of (9), but more pleasant further on along the road to Gravère. A path on the left before the D931 allowed us to reach point (6) comfortably, then (5). Please note: access to this path is not straightforward; it seems the locals have taken it over (are they allowed to??) by parking their lorry and putting a barrier across the path. We stepped over the barrier... Walk length: 6.2 km, duration 2 hours.

That’s what we’ve found, and we make the most of it practically every weekend....
Thanks again, because all you have to do is follow the route... without overthinking it...!!!! And enjoy the surroundings, even in rainy weather like yesterday...
Happy hiking...

Thank you for your comment.

The routes I offer complement the 431 routes proposed by the Departmental Tourism Committee.
Depending on the season, they can be extended, shortened, combined or cover several towns.
