Between land and sea: from Lagord to L’Houmeau and Nieul-sur-Mer

On the D104E2 linking Lagord to L’Houmeau, park in the car park near the bus stop at a place called Le Bonnodeau.

(S/E) Cross the D104E2 and take the cycle path opposite. At^{the first} junction, continue left onto a road running alongside houses on the right and fields on the left. At the end of the road, turn right then left and pass the Pinelière sports complex.

(1) Then, opposite, take a section of the cycle path to reach a junction; continue straight on along the cycle path and, at the next fork, turn right to reach the D104 road; be careful here when crossing.

(2) Take the dirt track opposite and follow it until you reach a path branching off to the left, before arriving at a house at Le Clou Doré.

(3) Go down this path and follow it until you reach a small tarmac road. Continue straight ahead on the road opposite and, at the next junction, turn right onto the road leading to the entrance of Nieul-sur-Mer, Rue du Champ Pinson.

(4) Turn left onto it, pass the cemetery, the police station and the town hall, then continue straight on along Rue Léonce Vieljeux. After a large crossroads, continue along Rue de l’Océan and then Rue des Mottes. At the end of the street, turn onto a path on the right. You will soon reach Rue du Marais.

(5) Cross it, then walk alongside the grounds of the Nieul archery club. At the next junction, turn right onto the path leading to the rainwater treatment basin.

(6) Head up to the left along the lagoon, then follow the Gô stream which runs alongside a natural wetland area, the Marais de Gâtineau. Cross the marsh to reach a road.

(7) Turn right, then immediately left; after a short climb, you’ll reach the coastal path at Pas de Digolet.

(8) Then follow the coastal path to the left as far as Pointe du Plomb.

(9) Continue along the path, skirting the Port du Plomb, and take the footbridge to cross from the commune of Nieul-sur-Mer to that of L'Houmeau on the opposite bank.

(10) Keep following the coastline along a recently built sea wall. After about a hundred metres, head back down from the sea wall.

(11) Then turn left onto the road towards L'Houmeau and walk back up alongside the Marais de Pampin. At the industrial estate, turn right and take the cycle path.

(12) Follow the cycle path, cross Rue de La République and continue straight on. The path runs behind the gardens of a residential estate. Cross Rue Henri Grégoire and, at the end of the path, turn right to rejoin the Route de Monsidun.

(13) Turn left onto the road that passes in front of the Monsidun farm, turn left, then pass in front of the La Faucherie estate and continue to the Bonnodeau-Monsidun car park (S/E).
