Description of the walk

Start and finish at the town hall car park in La Haye-Malherbe.

(S/E) Head towards the church and go round it on the left, then take Rue du Défend on the right. At the junction with Chemin d’Argeronne, continue straight on to the end of the street.

(1) Take the path on the right, continue along the edge of the field until you reach Rue Chanceuse. Turn right to go up the street, then take Rue de la Sente du Pré on the left. Join Rue du Mont Honnier and follow it straight on until you reach the small bridge, which you must cross.

(2) Turn right onto Rue du Quesneau and leave the village. At the bend, turn right onto the path which soon runs alongside a wooded area.

(3) Once you reach the main road (D79), cross it carefully and take the path opposite. Join Rue de la Boudine and follow it to the left.

(4) Join Rue du 8 mai 1945, turn right and follow it up to Montaure church. Leave the church on your left and continue straight on along the road that goes downhill (Rue de l’Abbé Toussaint). Continue along Rue de la Résistance. For the children, there is often a llama on the left. Go through the dip and continue up this same street.

(5) Look for a path branching off to the right just before No. 4, leading onto Rue aux Potiers. Follow it to the right for a few metres, then take the path on the right and continue straight on, following the edge of the forest until you enter it.

(6) At the entrance to the forest – a delight for children on mountain bikes – take one of the dirt tracks on the right and join Rue de la Ravine (D79). Follow it to the left until you reach the crossroads: be careful, as this road is quite busy.

(7) Take the second street on the left, heading almost straight ahead (sign for the La Haye-Malherbe exit opposite) for about a hundred metres. Turn onto the first path on the right, Chemin des Forrières. Pass close to the pond then continue alongside the sports ground to reach the school. Turn right to return to your starting point at the town hall car park (S/E).

A lovely route between two Norman villages. Beautiful traditional houses. Quiet paths and roads, except at the end of the route as you leave the forest.
