Description of the walk

The starting point is near the hamlet of Saury, in the commune of Lathuile. Park in the Montgellaz car park, about 400 m after passing through Saury.

(S/E) Walk back down the access road to the car park for about 300 m, until you reach Saury.

(1) Turn left at the sign indicating the rules for using the Canyon de la Mine, continue along this path, passing to the left of the buildings. Continue along the path that leads to a footbridge and cross the Ruisseau de la Mine stream. Continue along the path until you reach the GRP® Tour du Lac d'Annecy.

(2) Take the path on the left and continue climbing towards the Mine, then Les Bochettes, until you reach the tarmac road.

(3) Continue left on this road for about 2 km until you reach the Perrière car park.

(4) Head towards Col de la Frasse, then continue to Sous Précheret (altitude 1,300 m).

(5) Leave the GRP® Tour du Lac d'Annecy trail. Turn left towards Crêt du Char, which is reached by a steady climb.

(6) There is a viewpoint marked on the map near this spot, but I didn't go there. Begin the descent to Col de la Bornette, following the direction of Chalet de la Bornette, to reach the GRP® du Massif des Bauges.

(7) Continue left towards Refuge de la Combe, passing in front of Les Ailes du stream, to arrive at Sous la Roche (altitude 1,380 m) via a path with numerous tree roots.

(8) Head towards Montgellaz on the left; from there, it is all downhill for about 4.5 km, clearly marked, to return to the Montgellaz car park (S/E).
