The Taillefer ridge starting from the Lo Velâjo campsite

The walk starts from the Lo Velâjo campsite, but it is also possible to get there by bus or car, with parking available nearby. A very pleasant route that can keep you occupied for half a day or a full day (there are several lovely spots for a picnic) with beautiful views of Lake Annecy. Most of the route is through woodland, so you’ll be sheltered from the sun in hot weather.

Description of the walk

If you are not staying at the campsite, there is a bus stop next to it (Pied du Village) served by the Y51 route. It is also possible to park in front of the town hall: the walk starts from there.

(S/E) Head towards the Town Hall then turn right to follow the Route de Fruitière.

(1) Take the Chemin de Nanceau on the left. Leave the tarmac road and follow the path that enters the forest and leads to the Pré Falquet crossroads.

(2) Head left and continue climbing the winding path until you reachthe oratory and its panoramic view.

(3) Continue straight on towards the paragliding launch site.

(4) Keep heading in the same direction until you reach the junction with a path leading down to Entrevernes.

(5) Ignore this path and carry on straight ahead to the quarry.

(6) Go round the quarry on the left and continue along the path, which becomes steeper.

(7) Leave the path leading to Duingt on your left and carry on straight ahead.

(8) From here, you can choose to continue down towards Duingt, or take a shortcut by following the small path on the right which will take you directly to the Voie Verte (route choice): please note, this path is not very well maintained.

(9) Turn right towards Doussard, following the Voie Verte.

(10) Turn right to follow the Route du Taillefer as far as the three-way junction.

(11) Take the Route de Chaparon on the right and stay on this road, ignoring the side streets, until you reach the junction at Camping l'Idéal.

(12) Turn right onto Route de la Carrière to go through the woods.

(13) Leave the road and take a path on the left, continuing straight on until you reach the Pré Falquet junction.

(2) Head downhill to rejoin Chemin de Nanceau and continue to the junction.

(1) Turn right here, head to the junction by the Town Hall and turn left to return to the campsite (S/E).
