Between the banks of the Sèvres and the family cemeteries at La Crèche

The car park is located below the market. To get there, turn towards Rue des Halles at the traffic lights on Avenue de Paris.

(S/E) Join Rue du Marché, follow it to the left for 20 metres, then turn right onto Impasse de la Charbonnerie. Cross the footbridge over a tributary of the Sèvre Niortaise, turn right onto the path that goes around the stadium. Turn onto the path on the right to reach Route de François: the Pairé wash house is nearby on the left.

(1) Follow this road to the right until you reach the crossroads. Turn left towards the D7, cross the bridge over the Sèvre Niortaise and continue until you reach a path on the left.

(2) Take this path and, at the next crossroads, turn left. Go around the sewage treatment plant (beware of the smell), continue straight ahead through the poplar groves and reach the D174.

(3) Turn left towards the bridge: the Ruffigny wash house is located just before the bridge below the road. Cross and, in the left-hand bend, continue straight on along Chemin de la Papeterie. Opposite the paper mill, climb the path until you reach the D182.

(4) Turn right and follow it to the car park on the right below. Take the concrete path that runs alongside the Sèvre Niortaise to a second footbridge, which you cross to reach a junction between a road and a white path.

(5) Take the latter on the right, and further on, ignore a path on the right and continue to the D174.

(6) Turn left towards Chantecaille and, at the next crossroads, turn right onto the white path: on the left, you will see two cemeteries somewhat overgrown with vegetation. At the crossroads, turn right, then left at the next one; pass in front of the museum entrance and reach the D7.

(7) Turn right, pass in front of the church and, opposite the temple, turn left onto Route de Champcornu. At the first crossroads, turn left. At the end, turn right and continue straight ahead, ignoring all other streets. You will reach Route de Buffevent.

(8) Turn left, ignore the next two streets and turn right onto Chemin du Docteur Bonnin, which slopes downwards.

(9) When you reach Chemin de Drahé, turn right: on the left is the Saint-Martin wash house. Continue straight ahead and, at the roundabout, take the cul-de-sac towards Les Êtrés until you reach an intersection.

(10) Turn right, walk alongside and around the stadium: on the right is the Charles cemetery. Enter through the gate, continue around the football pitch, then turn right and cross the footbridge. Continue along the path beside the Sèvre Niortaise until you reach Rue de Barilleau opposite the school.

(11) Take this street on the right, pass in front of the flour mill: the Barilleau wash house is on the right. You will reach a crossroads.

(12) Take Rue de la Villedieu on the right until you reach Rue des Hivers on the left, then take it towards Rue de l'Aumônerie.

(13) Turn left towards a bakery and you will find the car park where you started opposite (S/E).

There are numerous picnic tables and benches along the route.

During periods of high water, certain parts of the circuit may be impassable, particularly between points (3) and (4). In this case, at point (3), take the path opposite until you reach the path between points (5) and (6). Turn right and continue to point (6).

There are all kinds of shops in the town of La Crèche. You can also visit the Hunting Museum in Breloux.
