Parking: park on Place de la Poype in Montanay.
(S/E) Head towards Rue Centrale, cross at the pedestrian crossing and turn left. Turn into the first street on the right, Rue du Mas Mathieu. Turn left quickly with the street. At the crossroads, turn right onto Rue du Vieux Château, which curves left further on before reaching the edge of the woods.
(1) Turn right to enter the Montanay woods and take the path on the left (signposted Francs-Lyonnais). You will reach the ruins of the old castle.
(2) Turn right, then right again about twenty metres further on. The path descends gently into the undergrowth. Continue to follow the steepest slope to reach the Ruisseau des Torrières stream.
(3) Turn right onto the path that now follows the meanders of the stream. You will arrive in front of a large wall with a statue of a large stag.
(4) A few metres before, turn left and climb the steps to reach the bridge. Go left to climb a path through the fields and turn right at the next intersection. Join a wide cross path and follow it to the left.
(5) Turn right and continue straight ahead on the path that runs alongside the TGV line, then veers off to the right. You will reach the Montanay tennis courts.
(6) Turn right at the roundabout towards the village. Rue des Echets becomes Rue Centrale and leads straight to Place de la Poype (S/E).
