Park near the Fleurieu-sur-Saône cemetery on Chemin du Cimetière, where there are about ten parking spaces.
(S/E) Walk up the street and turn left at the fork, go through the gates to start the trail and a few dozen metres further on you will find yourself with a magnificent panoramic view of the Val de Saône, at the foot of the Madone. Continue to the intersection marked by the "Bois des Côtes" sign.
(1) Go through the barriers and follow the small path downhill to the left. When you reach the tarmac road, turn right. Continue straight ahead, taking the road that goes downhill. When you reach a building and just before the village entrance sign, turn right and start climbing.
(2) Don't miss the hairpin bend on the left. A little further on, take a small detour as the path descends dangerously. When you reach an intersection with large rocks, take the path on the right alongside a small reservoir. Climb onto the concrete structure built to channel the water. Continue straight ahead to reach the foot of the water tower.
(3) Leave it on your right and continue along the path that leads into the fields. At the end, turn right and after a 90° turn, take the first small path on the left which will lead you into a wood.
Be careful here: the descent can be slippery at first.
(4) Continue along this path, ignoring all the paths branching off to the right or left, until you reach the Ruisseau des Échets (dry in dry weather).
(5) Follow it, heading west on the right. This small winding path is very pleasant despite some muddy smells. When you reach the signs, ignore the La Marinade path on the right and continue straight ahead to cross the small bridge. Turn right, following the yellow markings, to reach La Ruelle Profonde and a new crossroads.
(6) Take the path on the right and leave the markings. Pass in front of a horse paddock, and 100 metres later, turn right at the markings and follow the Echets stream. Continue until you reach the stream again and go straight ahead at the path sign: "Et au début était un lac" (And in the beginning there was a lake).
(7) At the end, turn right and cross the stream via a small bridge. Here, begin a short climb to reach the Rue de la République crossroads.
(8) Turn right at the Y-junction, keeping to the right, enter the Bois des Côtes and continue to return to the car park near the cemetery (S/E).
