Start at Bois de la Gueule (Vita trail).
(S/E) Follow the tarmac road east-south-east, heading away from the start of the Vita trail. When you reach a farm, take the road on the right. At the next junction, turn left onto the path running alongside the forest.
(1) After about twenty metres, follow a path to the right (south-southeast), the start of which is not very visible.
(2) At the junction with a wide tarmac road, turn left towards the motorway. Take the first street on the right. You’ll come out onto a path running alongside a small stream; follow it to the left. At the end of the path (small bridge), cross the main road and continue on the pavement on the right.
(3) Pass under the motorway bridge and take the path on the right which leads down to a junction of paths. Then turn right to pass under the motorway again. Next, take a path on the right which follows the Versoix upstream along its left bank (do not cross the bridge). This path leads onto a tarmac road which takes you back towards the main road.
(4) Cross the road, then follow it to the left and cross the River Versoix.
(5) Take a look at the hydroelectric power station and follow the yellow markings to the right, which lead to the water intake canal for the power station. Cross the bridge and follow the canal upstream to its source. Cross to the other bank, either via a bridge in the middle of the canal (yellow markings), or by staying on the same bank and crossing the bridge at the water intake.
(6) Take the path that branches off to the right and climbs steeply away from the river. At the junction with the tarmac road, cross over and, a little further down, take a wide track that runs alongside large horse pastures. When you reach the tarmac road, turn right onto it, heading back down towards the river.
(7) To the right of the road is a large picnic area. Cross the Bossy Bridge, then take the path on the left and stay on a track close to the river. Continue to follow the river along its right bank for several kilometres until you reach the Sauverny Bridge, which marks the French-Swiss border.
(8) Opposite the bridge, a path (marked in yellow) turns right and passes between a few houses before crossing some fields: follow the yellow markings, turning once to the left and then to the right.
(9) Walk past the Courtois Farm, then carry straight on and first turn left then right towards the Geneva Astronomical Observatory, which you go round on the left.
(10) From the car park, take the access road (barrier). At the first junction, follow the wide dirt track that heads straight on (south-east). Then take the first track on the right to join the main road.
(11) Continue straight ahead on the wide dirt track, before taking the first path on the left. At the next junction, turn right. After crossing a stream, turn first left then immediately right. At the T-junction, turn right. Ignore two paths coming from the right and you’ll reach a woodcutters’ hut.
(12) Head slightly to the left and you’ll immediately reach the starting car park (S/E).
