Go to Guidel-Plages and park in the Rue du Bas Pouldu car park before the marina (the first car park when you arrive in Guidel-Plages).
(S/E) With your back to the car park, head towards the seafront via the pedestrian crossing. Turn right along the shops and head towards the marina. Pass the harbour master's office on your right and walk along the quays.
GR®34 markings: White and red +PR® marked in yellow
(1) Take the coastal path that runs along the mouth of the Laïta river in the shade of the pine trees.
You will reach a stretch of tarmac which you follow for a few dozen metres and, at the bend, continue straight on along the coastal path.
Depending on the tide, you will see two channels with sandbanks in the middle. You will also notice the impressive line of boats along the other bank, the main channel.
The path bends to the right to follow a bend in the river and leads to a fork.
(2) At the Beg Nénez sign, turn left, ignoring the wide path that goes straight up to the right. Continue along this path through the woods that runs alongside the river. You will arrive at the dyke before the old Beg Nénez tide mill, which operated until 1934.
(3) Walk along the dyke towards the old mill (signposted Pont Saint-Maurice), turn right and join the road that climbs up to the hamlet of Beg Nénez.
Leave theGR® which continues along the coastal path and continue on the PR®.
PR® marked in yellow
Cross the hamlet of Beg Nénez, turning left then right, and come out at the stop sign on the D162.
(4) Turn right and immediately take the wide path below the road. It turns right and continues in a long straight line downhill through a wooded area. Ignore a path on the left (signposted Guidel). Continue straight ahead until you reach a small road.
Turn right, pass the hamlet of Traouguer and arrive at a crossroads.
No real signposting: a few signs for Guidel-Plages
(5). Continue straight ahead along a farm track with some remaining tarmac that goes around a large field (Les Terres Fortes on the IGN map). Beautiful view of the sea with the cliffs of the western tip of Île de Groix on the horizon. Continue along the road which leads to a car park on the right (not marked on the map). Turn left then right in front of the Laïta crêperie.
(6) Then turn left into the street marked as a dead end. At the end, follow a path that leads into a wooded area. Cross a small footbridge then turn right towards the Notre-Dame de la Pitié chapel, leaving a path and a footbridge on your right.
(7) Pass the chapel and its modern calvary, continue downhill towards its votive fountain and arrive at the car park opposite (S/E).
The coastal path may seem difficult for people who are not used to this type of terrain: protruding rocks, roots, a series of ascents and descents, numerous steps, including a 25-step climb followed by the equivalent descent.
