Yellow markings
(S/E) Head towards the River Stéïr, heading north-east, going round the children’s playground; follow the river upstream, passing the first footbridge on your right. Continue to the lock and cross it.
(1) Head uphill opposite, leaving the path that runs along the left bank of the river, and you’ll come to the Coat Ty Dreux community gardens on your left (book box). Turn right and join Rue Charles d’Orléans, following it to the right; pass the first street on your left and you’ll reach Allée de Coat Ty Dreux.
(2) Turn left into this pedestrian lane, which rejoins Rue Charles d’Orléans; follow this road to the right.
(3) At Rue du Manoir, turn left, continue along the left-hand pavement, cross the railway line and carry on along Rue du Château. At the roundabout, continue along this street to the left until you see the sign for Maternelle, Primaire, Collège Saint-Jean-Baptiste.
(4) Head up Allée de Kerdaniel to the right (a steep slope), pass a block of flats on your right and turn into the next cul-de-sac. You’ll reach the start of a footpath.

(5) Turn left, go up a flight of steps and arrive at the school. Follow the fence around the playground to the right, veer right, go through a small gate (which is always open) and walk round a grass sports pitch. Ignore a pedestrian crossing on the right and arrive at a roundabout near a bus stop.

(6) At the ‘Ty Mamm Doué’ signpost, turn left, begin the lovely descent along the Allée de Meilh Stang Vihan and continue along the cycle path. You’ll reach the access road to the crematorium and the cemetery. Head for a footbridge by keeping to the right.
(7) Cross this footbridge and follow the path to the right which runs alongside a small stream. A lovely avenue of hazel trees forms an arch over the path. Pass the first footbridge on the right and continue to the next one, which you cross.
(8) Continue to follow the stream, which is now on your left; cross the new footbridge to continue with the stream on your right and reach the Rond-Point des Chasseurs.
(9) At the roundabout, turn left onto the uphill Avenue du Réseau Johnny, then right onto Rue Laurent Jacq. At the end, pass a wooden barrier (sign prohibiting motorised vehicles), veer left to reach the Allée de Kermorvan, which leads to some farms. Turn right, then left, and continue along the same lane towards the Auberge de Ty Mamm Doué.
Cross the D139 Route de Plogonnec with care(at the pedestrian crossing), then take the road leading uphill to the right towards the 16th-century Ty Mamm Doué Chapel (Chapel of the Mother of God). Take the time to walk around it to discover the many inscriptions and sculptures. It’s well worth a visit if it’s open (see Practical Information).

(10) Continue along the uphill road, pass under the power lines and join the Roman Road. Take the hairpin bend to the right. Follow this long descent. At the Kermaner sign on the left, there is the option of a round trip to Kermaner Manor (private). Please respect the speed limit.
(12) Return to the road and continue the descent, taking the path at the end that runs alongside a new garden centre.
(13) Go round the roundabout on the right and take Allée de Kermorvan on the right.
Turn left to rejoin the green space.

Carry on straight ahead, despite a Yellow Cross, along the white path which goes round a rainwater basin on the left. Cross a footbridge, come out opposite a synthetic basketball court, then walk alongside a children’s play area and emerge onto Avenue de Ti Pont. Head right towards the Rond-Point des Chasseurs.
(9) Turn left onto Avenue des Chasseurs; leave this road after about 100 metres and turn right towards a wooden chicane (sign prohibiting motorised vehicles). Follow this path, which runs alongside a stream on your right, until you reach the second footbridge.
(8) Turn left at a right angle and follow this tarmac path which runs alongside Stang Vihan Cemetery on your left. Please note that the path climbs straight ahead and the gradient is quite steep.
(14) Turn right onto the path that leads into the woods, follow it and cross a field. Pass close to the small building again and join the Allée de Meilh Stang Vihan. Follow it to the left up to the crossroads.

(6) Continue straight ahead along a very narrow one-way street and you’ll come to a beautiful stone house on the right. Note the unobtrusive fountain and its small stone wash house on the left. At the first junction with a larger road, opposite the buildings of a shopping centre, turn left and follow this road past the Résidence du Parc to the traffic lights. Cross the road, turn left and head for the car park reserved for users of the artificial-turf football pitch.

(15) Turn right and begin a gentle descent into the valley between the sports complex on the left and a residential area on the right. At the bottom, continue along the road that leads down to Rue de Kérivoal. Cross at the pedestrian crossing, turn right, then take the hairpin bend to the left into La Garenne au Loup. Go straight down this road, pass under the small railway tunnel on your right and continue along the road opposite to reach the Rond-Point du Manoir, which you go round on the left. Cross with care.
(16) Follow the Promenade du Stéïr for about 300 metres, keeping the river on your left. You’ll see a wash house and two fountains on your right. At the double bridge on the left, turn right (at the barrier) and follow this lane. At the end, turn left for about twenty metres to catch a glimpse of the Manoir des Salles. Turn back to return to the banks of the Steïr.
Cross the double bridge and continue along the narrow lane. At Rue du Cosquer, turn right and continue along the pavement towards the roundabout. Take the newly laid concrete path on the right (12/2018), continue along the pavement and then take the footpath on the right which runs behind the blocks of flats. Turn left to return to the starting car park (S/E).
