In the Chambolle-Musigny Forest

Hiking, almost entirely in the forest, is very pleasant in summer. Beautiful views of the vineyards. In the centre of the village, there is a church and a magnificent lime tree.

Description of the walk

Parking is available next to the Church of Sainte-Barbe (Chambolle-Musigny), with an old lime tree nearby. If there are no spaces available, you can park in a small car park along Rue Amont, after the last houses, when coming from the centre of the village.

(S/E) With your back to the church entrance, follow the street opposite, away from the lime tree. At the end of the street, take Rue de Vergy on the left.

(1) At the fork, take the road on the right. Stay on the road, ignoring the paths on either side, and climb up to the plateau. Pass several farm buildings and continue straight ahead on a path that enters the forest. Continue for about 700 m after the last buildings until you reach a crossroads.

(2) Turn right. Continue straight ahead, ignoring the tracks on either side.

(3) At the crossroads, turn left. After a good hundred metres, turn right into a passage that descends into the valley (blackberry bushes, trees across the path). At the bottom of the valley, turn right and you will immediately come to a crossroads.

(4) Then turn left (leave the two roads on the right). Follow the path to the north-west, ignoring all the paths on either side.

(5) At the crossroads, turn left to reach the edge of the woods. Then turn right and walk along a field on your left. Further on, enter the woods again and you will soon reach a crossroads.

(6) Then turn left (leaving two paths on your right). The path soon turns right and heads east-northeast.

(7) Cross the D122h carefully and continue on the path opposite.

(8) At a fork, bear right. Continue straight ahead (southeast), keeping parallel to Combe Ambin, located below on the right. Head east, exit the woods, and follow a field on your left.

(9) After approximately 250 m, turn right to re-enter the woods. Ignore the first path that branches off to the left.

(10) Take the next path on the left. At the crossroads that appears shortly after (elevation 430), go straight ahead (south-east).

(11) At the next junction, continue straight ahead and take a farm track that descends into the vineyard. Further down, join the GRP® coming from the left (red and yellow markings) and continue downhill on this trail.

(12) When the track turns left, continue straight ahead on the GRP®. Descend steadily to the village of Chambolle-Musigny. At the bottom, go straight ahead on Route de Vergy. Take the second left and you will soon come to the church (S/E).
