Head to the foot of the church in Vosne Romanée.
(S/E) Take Rue du Temps Perdu, walk past the church on your left and go uphill.
(1) At the end, at the calvary, follow a small road to the left and walk along the Romanée Conti plot on your right. At the corner of the plot, turn right onto the small wine route that climbs up through the vineyards.
(2) When you reach the top of the vineyards, continue straight ahead on a wide path, leaving the road climbing up on your left.
About a hundred metres further on, at a three-way junction, turn left.
(3) The path comes to an intersection with the Sentier Batier marked in yellow; turn right and follow this path.
(4) The path ends at the road, which you should follow to the left for 150 metres. A wide path opens up on the right with yellow markings. Follow it into the forest and then through the vineyards. The rows are spaced out and the vines are pruned high up, in contrast to the vines further down.
(5) At the intersection at the end of the vineyard, turn left, still following the yellow markers. Pass through the upper part of the Combe d'Orveaux. The path then climbs again and passes by a superb viewpoint overlooking the cliffs of the combe.
(6) 100 m further on, the Batier trail turns right. The route is reserved for the most intrepid: a steep descent over scree. It is better to continue straight ahead. At the three-way junction (about 200 m after the viewpoint), turn right and then continue straight ahead at the next intersection. Just after this, you will come to the Batier trail. Turn right and descend into the Combe d'Orveaux; this is a steep descent, so take care in wet weather.
(7) At the bottom of the valley, turn left and follow the path (which returns to the vineyards) to the junction with the Véloroute cycle route.
(8) Cross the cycle route and continue along the small wine-growing road opposite, which leads back to the church (S/E).
