Park in the car park at the downstream lock of the new canal on the Hollain road in Péronnes.
(S/E) Leave the lock on your left and walk towards the upstream lock in an east-southeast direction. Follow the canal on the left for about 2 km.
(1) At the top of the small steep slope above the technical buildings, turn left to cross over the leat of the upstream lock. Cross the bridge and the small diversion canal. After 250 m, turn right in front of the houses and continue along the towpath for 4.5 km.
You will reach the Charles de Gaulle bridge.
(2) Pass under the bridge, continue and join the Wiers bridge.
(3) Pass under this bridge as well to reach the confluence of the new and old canals.
(4) Head west along the left bank of the old canal for about 600 m. Leave the SALUC factory on your right. You are now at the Wiers Bridge.
(5) Follow theGR®123markings, veering slightly to the left to cross the main road (N504). TheGR® continues opposite. Turn right to follow theGR® markings and walk along the right bank of the old canal for 3 km. You will reach the Royal Bridge. (You can also stay on the right bank and rejoin the route further on.)
(6) Cross the bridge, then turn right and continue along the left bank. Reach the Grand'Route bridge.
(7) Cross the canal via the bridge and continue along the right bank. Follow the canal until you reach the bascule bridge on Route de Laplaigne.
(8) Landmark: the manual bascule bridge
(9) Continue opposite Rue du Large. You will reach the banks of the Scheldt. (The PYC JET SKY building will be on your right.)
(10) Continue left along the Scheldt and then the new canal.
(11) Leave the ADEPS buildings on your left, go back up the road and turn right towards the upstream lock. Cross the bridge and head to the car park on your right (S/E).
