From the village to the Menetou-Salon pond

Park in Place du Maréchal Joffre (at the very top of the square behind the church), at the top of Rue de la Mairie.

(S/E) At the end of this street, turn left.
At the corner by the car garage, take Rue Armand Cormont.
Walk down past the château’s vineyards. Admire the mural on the wall of the tennis court. Turn right into Rue de L’Abbé Berthault, and continue until you reach Rue du Dr J.J. Meunier on the left.

(1) Turn into it and walk past the château’s deer park.
At the crossroads, turn left.
Walk past the wash house at the bottom of the village on the right and continue to the junction. Go straight on along Rue du Commerce for about ten metres, then turn left towards the fishpond.

(2) Go round it on the left to see the fountain. Return to Rue du Commerce. Walk past the church to take Rue Fontbertrange, which is on the corner of the Café du Nord.
Walk down this street to the Fontbertrange wash house.

(3) Turn right at the corner of the wash house. The recycling centre is visible on the left. Walk up the hill towards the sign for Les Brangers.

(4) Take the path that forms part of the^GR®31on the right: a beautiful view of Menetou-Salon and the surrounding countryside. At the end of this path, cross the road, enter the woodland and take the small path on the left, between the road and the old railway line.
Join the old railway line on the left.

(5) When you reach the small road, look for the old gatekeeper’s house on the left. Take the small road to the right.
At the mountain bike parking sign, head left up into the field and go to the far end, following the mown section.
Take the path through the undergrowth, following the small red and orange mountain bike routes. As you leave the undergrowth, take another path on the left, continuing to follow the mountain bike routes.

(6) At the end of this path, the Farges communal lake is directly in front of you.
Walk along its right-hand side until you reach the lake’s refreshment kiosk. You can stop for a break here.

(5) Head up the small road and rejoin the old railway line on the left, at the old signalman’s house.
After the bridge, just before the old station, turn left onto the path running parallel to the old railway line, then follow the railway line until you reach a road. Turn right.

(7) At the top of the hill, turn right onto Chemin du Prieuré.
Pass the French War Memorial on your right. On the left, the priory grounds and a beautiful view of the village, the church and Menetou-Salon Castle.
Continue along this path, which becomes a small road, until you reach the first house on the left. Admire the lovely, well-tended garden.
At the end of this road, turn left.
After 50 m, take the path on the right, signpost 188 La Croix du Prieuré, until you reach the road. Turn left into Rue Fontbertrange.
In front of the church, walk up Rue de la Mairie to Place du Maréchal Joffre (at the very top of the square behind the church) (S/E).
