Park in the car park at the entrance to the Tunnel du Rove at the western end of the city of Marseille, in the Estaque district.
(S/E) Take the Route du Resquiadou, which passes in front of the hotel of the same name. After a right-hand bend, you will come to a footbridge.
(1) Take it on the left and start the climb. A few markers along the way indicate Sentier des Douaniers. Ignore thefirst path that goes straight ahead after a few hundred metres and continue to the right to quickly find a new crossroads.
(2) Take the path on the left and begin the descent to reach the Côte Bleue railway line. Turn right and follow the path, which is somewhat hidden by vegetation. Continue until you reach a crossroads of paths at a stream in the Coucourdier valley.
(3) Continue left, still on the Sentier des Douaniers. Approach the coast to reach the Cap Ragnon climbing site. Continue along the edge of the cliffs to reach a crossroads.
(4) Be careful here: ignore the wider path that goes straight ahead and descend to the left onto a path that is not very visible or inviting. Continue along the route to reach the Figuerolles cove. At the western end of the beach, take a steep path on the right, carved out by rainwater. Join the path that runs along the coast.
(5) Continue left towards Port de la Vesse. Be careful here: this passage is quite physically demanding, and there are a few ropes to help you along. Pass under the railway bridge and descend towards the village.
(6) Turn back in the opposite direction to return to the previous crossroads.
(5) Turn left towards the railway line and climb above the tunnel. You will reach a crossroads with several directions.
(7) Turn right and stay on the path along the Gipier du Vallon. You will reach a four-way crossroads. Turn right and cross the stream. Continue up a gentle slope to reach the highest point. From here, begin the descent into the Fontêtes valley. Continue on to reach the Fort de Figuerolles crossroads.
(8) Turn right to reach the fort. Return to the crossroads and take the road opposite the fort, arriving at an intersection with a path.
(9) Leave the road here and turn right onto the path, continue and return to the crossroads you passed on the way there.
(3) Turn left onto the uphill path, then continue downhill to return to thefirst crossroads you passed on the way there.
(2) Retrace your steps to return to the Tunnel du Rove car park (S/E).
