Description of the walk

(S) From the Mont Thabor refuge, head west, passing between Lakes Sainte-Marguerite and Long before beginning the steep climb up to the Col des Bataillières.

(1) Descend to the lake of the same name.

(2) Make a wide loop at the far end of the lake, then head roughly north to reach the Refuge des Marches (a possible option for an overnight stay).

(3) Continue along theGRP® Tour du Thabor trail to begin the ascent ending at the Col des Marches.

(4) Begin the final descent of the hike, which is steep at first but becomes easier. Arrive below the Inversins chairlift.

(5) Continue the descent to the Jeux chairlift overlooking Valmeinier 1800.

(6) Turn left, head towards Valmeinier 1800 and turn left again to return to the first junction on the walk, at the Désert d’en haut.

(7) Turn right and follow the outward route in the opposite direction to return to La Combaz (E).
