(1) Departure from the "Refuge de Campana de Cloutou"
Return only in good weather with very good visibility. In case of bad weather, fog or rain, for example, it is recommended to descend via the same route used for the ascent.
Head south, following the path marked in red and white that climbs towards the Col de Bastanet. Climb towards the unnamed lakes (altitude 2335).
(1) You will come to a fork that is not very visible, just before crossing these unnamed lakes. Keep to the right bank of the stream flowing under the rock. Then head left, due east.
(2) When you reach Lac Arrédoun (altitude 2,326 m), go around it on the left and continue east-northeast on the path that remains fairly flat. Go around Tuhou Arrédoun du Haut on the left and follow the cairned path that branches off to the right-southeast. Caution: the cairned path now descends into a pile of large boulders.
(3) When you reach Lac de L'I (altitude 2,303 m), go around it on the left and head for the pass directly east. The path zigzags up through the mountain pasture.
(4) You will arrive at the Col de Couradette (altitude 2,403 m). There is a small lake below, after the pass, to the left of the path. This is a pleasant place to take a break. You must now descend into the valley directly east, following the cairns. Pass a few small lakes.
(5) You will arrive at a well-preserved hut with no name (Lita de la Cabane). From the hut, head north-west and turn right, continuing to descend. Pass the right bank of the torrent.
(6) You will see Lac de Cul des Gourgs (altitude 2,282 m) and go around the lake on the right. The path descends steeply over rocks, winding sharply downhill and heading north-northeast. Stay on this path, which becomes more visible, and continue descending towards Lac de Montarrouye.
(7) You will arrive at Lac de Montarrouye (altitude 1936 m). A metal hut in good condition is located slightly to the left above the lake: you can take a break here. Continue along the path heading north, which goes around the lake on the left. Be careful. You need to switch to another slope.
(8) At the fork at Les Portes (at an altitude of 2,052 m), leave the well-marked path that descends towards Gaoube.
Turn left onto the path that climbs very steeply, heading north-west. Pass a grassy spur and arrive below the Tuhou Gran (altitude 1911). Go around it on the left, turn left heading due west and pass above the ruined Graoube hut.
(9) Head north, leaving Cot Dessus (altitude 1874) on your left, and follow the well-marked paths. Pass to the left of the point at altitude 1833.
(10) At Cot Debat (altitude 1,815 m), there is a small rocky outcrop which can be crossed safely. Now head north-west. After 300 m, turn right north, following the marked paths. An old grassy track turns left towards the west and takes you above a hut.
(11) When you reach the Béziaou hut (altitude 1,600 m), continue west for 100 m and turn left, heading south, descending rapidly through fairly dense vegetation on a well-marked path.
(12) At a fork, before the stream, turn right, heading due west, following the red and white markings ofthe GR®®10C. Continue downhill, following the same path as the day before.
Pass the Cascade du Garet waterfall, cross the footbridge over the Garet, cross the bridge over the Artigues and turn right to return to the starting point and your vehicles (S/E).
