On Friday (17.10.25), we completed the first part of the hike (point S/E around 8, without going via 1), as we had planned to pick some mushrooms along the way..

First observation: there was a strong smell of exhaust fumes (aircraft fly right overhead) in the car park; the smell diminished as we moved away towards 2. In fact, for those who want to shorten the hike, you can park at point 3, because after this stage, the forest is even wilder.

We also stopped at the Au Péché Gourmand restaurant, which is excellent.

For the return journey, we took a taxi back to the starting point (€17 for three of us, which was fine) because we were going on holiday (All Saints' Day) and needed childcare. I was surprised at how far we had to walk to get back to our car 😅

I recommend this (half) hike.

Yesterday's hike was longer (39 km), as I set off on foot from Plessis-Belleville station (and returned there after the hike) to reach Ermenonville (a beautiful private château, but you can walk around the grounds). I also made a detour halfway to the restaurant "Au Péché Gourmand" in Thiers-sur-Thève, which I recommend. Part of this hike (over an hour) was done in the rain, which did not detract from its appeal. No particular difficulty.

We combined part of this hike with the one called "Othis-Beaumarchais-Vers-Othis". We set off from Othis and followed the GR 1 to the Croix Neuve signpost, where we joined the route to the Ermenonville signpost.
We hiked in torrential rain from the Croix Neuve signpost to the outskirts of Ermenonville, after which the weather calmed down.
We took a quick tour of Ermenonville, but with better weather we would have had a more thorough visit.
The paths were good, except for the trail on the N 330, which is difficult to see, narrow and lined with brambles that are sometimes overgrown.

A beautiful route, mostly through forest, with different types of woodland and tree species.
Sandy paths typical of the region, with little elevation change, making it accessible to most people

A superb walk in glorious sunshine: even though part of it is shaded, you should still take a hat and plenty of water! A beautiful mix of pine and oak forests... Mostly flat, except for a few sections at the end: the only difficulty is the length. And a few sandy sections, which slow you down.
I did the Long Walk in Ermenonville Forest in winter, and this one complements it perfectly.
Thanks to its author.

A route entirely within the forest, allowing you to discover its different aspects.
Very well signposted, but you still need to pay attention at the various junctions.
At the end of the route, if you are tired, there is the option to shorten the route.

I consider myself to be very familiar with the forest, but I discovered areas that I had never visited before.
A beautiful route.
