The walk begins at the car park in front of the castle entrance, on Rue René de Girardin in Ermenonville (Oise).
(S/E) As you leave the car park, turn left into Rue René de Girardin and walk to the junction, where you take the road on the left leading to the traffic lights on the N330, which protect the pedestrian crossing.
(1) Cross the road and continue through the car park, skirting the archery range, until you reach the forest track blocked by a barrier. Continue along this winding track, which shortly afterwards passes through a wide clearing serving as a firebreak. Carry straight on through three junctions before reaching the one at the corner of plot 217.
(2) Turn left onto a track leading to the Pavillon du Prince after crossing another track 500 metres further on. Then veer right onto a track following the wire fence and turn right again at the end of it to take a winding path (the Route Anglaise) which leads you to the Petit Carrefour.

(3) Continue straight ahead along the Route du Bosquet Rond towards the Carrefour Saint-Barthélemy. Cross the D126 road and carry on straight ahead along the road that runs between plots 175 and 177. At the Carrefour du Grisard (signpost), continue straight on along the Route du Bosquet Rond towards the junction of the same name.
(4) Turn slightly left and, at the next junction 200 metres further on, turn slightly right to reach the Sainte-Marguerite signpost. Continue straight on along Route Sainte-Marguerite to the Merisier signpost.
No signposts
(5) Turn right onto Route Ronde de Haute Chaume, which becomes a very fine gravel track at the next junction. Carry on straight ahead to the Poteau de la Haute Chaume.
(6) Turn right onto Route de Haute Chaume and continue straight on towards the Carrefour de la Cavée. Cross this junction and, at the next junction, turn left. A few dozen metres further on, you’ll reach the path leading to the memorial erected in memory of the victims of the Turkish Airlines DC10 crash on 3 March 1974.
(7) After visiting the site on your right, return to the path and continue to the right (north-east) until, 700 metres further on, you reach the Baraque Chaalis clearing.
(8) Turn slightly left onto the tarmac road and follow it until you reach the first path, which you take on the right at the corner of plot 100. It runs alongside plots 100 on the left and 102, 103 and 105 on the right, joining theGR®®11at the corner of the latter.

(9) Turn right and continue along theGR®®, which crosses the D126 at the corner of plot 108. Cross the road; 200 metres further on you’ll reach a small tarmac road where theGR®® turns left.
No signposting
(10) Cross the road and continue straight on. The path passes successively between plots 123, 118, 122, 119, 120 and 16, heading first south-east and then due south.
(11) At the crossroads between plots 16, 17, 18 and 20 (Carrefour d’Ermenonville), take the second path on the right, running alongside plot 18. After about 1 km, this leads you to the Petit Carrefour, which you passed earlier in the day.
(3) This time, head due south along the Longue Route towards the Carrefour du Carreau. You will walk alongside plots 182 and 183. At the next crossroads, at the corner of plots 183, 185 and 189, turn right and walk straight on until you reach a T-junction with a path running alongside a fence. You are now at the edge of plot 186.
(12) Turn left (as you continue, you can see the Château de Saint-Sulpice-la-Ramée on your left). The path descends into a small valley and then climbs back up to join the D922 road near the lovely chapel on this estate.
(13) Turn left onto the D922, then, 150 metres further on, turn right onto the path running alongside the sewage treatment ponds.
GR®® markings (red and white) are often faded
Head down towards the valley floor, cross the stream and enter the forest, skirting plot 193. The stony path joins the tarmac forest road from Boisdhyver at the Carrefour des Marronniers.
(14) Turn left, then, 150 metres further on, turn right onto the path running between plots 200 and 201.
The red and white markings are now crossed out with a diagonal white line, indicating a former GR®® branch route.
At the next junction, head diagonally to the right to cross plot 202. Keep to the left at the next fork. You’ll emerge from plot 202 onto a track; follow it to the left until you reach the junction at the corner of plot 206.
(15) Turn right, walk alongside plots 206 and 207, then pass between plots 222 and 225. At the crossroads, take the second path on the left, running alongside plot 224.
No signposting
(16) At the junction between plots 223, 224 and 233, turn left and continue to the D922, which you cross. Then follow the path running between plots 219 and 234, which leads you to the next junction where you rejoin the forest track used at the start of the walk.
Turn right, continue to the gate, go through it and walk past the archery range. Then, cross the D922 and turn right onto Rue René de Girardin, which leads you to the car park (S/E).
a good walk, but definitely avoid the Morlai and the Chantilly lilies
