Start: Car park in the village of Ermenonville, near the castle.
(S/E) With your back to the car park, head right and go up the hill, then take the first small street on the left. Pass the town hall and continue along the street until you reach the pedestrian crossing. Cross the road and take Rue Radziwill, walking alongside the school.
(1) At Place de l'Église, turn left, walk along the church and the priory. Cross the road and go down Rue de la Cavée opposite. Just before the end of this street, turn right into a cobbled street (Rue du Moulin; if you come to a T-junction with Rue Souville, turn back).
(2) At the end of the cobblestones, follow the yellow-marked path to the right. Follow the hedge and continue along the edge of the forest for 700 m. Look for a yellow mark on a large oak tree and, 50 m further on, you will find a path coming from the left.
(3) At an intersection (marked 50 m beforehand by a yellow mark on a large oak tree), take the Chemin de la Patte d'Oie, which turns left into the forest (plot 259). At the Carrefour de la Patte d'Oie, in the clearing, take thethird path on the right (Route Tournante de Perthe, north towards the Carrefour du Regard, yellow mark).
(4) At the junction with the forest track, do not take it, but take the path that branches off to the right on the other side of the track. Continue along the path along the ledge and, at the next junction, continue straight ahead (north-north-west). After a few metres, turn right and start the descent. Further on, at a large dead beech tree on the right of the path, take the path on the left which leads, after a few steps, to a large sandstone slab: the Pierre Sorcière (Witch's Stone). Return to the path and continue. At the crossroads, go down to the left into the sunken path.
(5) At the Carrefour de la Basse Corde, take the track opposite (Route de Montagny) and pass the Carrefour des Bons Amis.
(6) Continue straight ahead until you reach the Croix Marchand. Then retrace your steps.
(6) Back at the Carrefour des Bons Amis, turn right (Route des Bons Amis) to admire the large four-trunk oak tree, called Bénitier de Saint-Hubert, on the right-hand side of the path before the sign about the forest. Continue straight ahead (south-southwest).
(7) At the crossroads after the barrier, take the paved road (Rue du Moulin) opposite and immediately turn left. Turn right with the road and continue south, then south-east.
(2) Return to the paved road. At the end of the paved road, turn left and go uphill. After crossing a street and passing the church, take a moment to visit the romantic cemetery.
(1) As you leave, turn right and follow the cemetery wall. Head towards the post office, turn right and go downhill to reach the car park (S/E).
