Park in the car park along the railway line, at the foot of the Rey de Saint-Pierre.
(S/E) With your back to the start sign, follow the road to the right and immediately take a wide path to the left.
(1) At the junction, continue to the left. At the T-junction, continue left again until the next junction with a path on the right.
(2) Head up to the right: view of the Rey de Saint-Pierre. Cross the road and continue straight ahead: view of the Sancy massif. Pass through Bannières, continuing straight on: communal oven and house facades.
(3) At the road junction, head up to the left then continue to the right of the wash house and the drinking trough.
(4) At the wayside shrine, turn left. At the road, cross over and continue along the path opposite: view of the northern part of the Chaîne des Puys. At the junction, continue to the right. Ignore the first path on the right and continue through the woods, staying on the main path. Pass close to the ruined house.
(5) At the fork, turn left, then left again 30 metres further on. At the T-junction, turn right and continue to the next T-junction.
(6) Turn left. At the next T-junction, turn left again and ignore the side paths: you will pass through the medieval camp of Les Chazaloux (information boards). Leave the forest and join a road.
(7) Follow it to the left for about 600 m, then take thefirst path on the right. Follow it downhill and, as soon as you enter the forest, continue along the track until you reach a road.
(8) Follow the road to the right for a few metres, then turn immediately left onto the path below. At the next junction, turn right onto the footbridge crossing the Marais de Paloux (Sensitive Natural Area). At the road, turn left to return to the starting point (S/E).
