Park in the car park near the Pont de Bourg-Charente, on the south bank of the river (restaurant).
(S/E): Head north, go up to cross the bridge over the Charente. Follow the yellow-marked route.
(1) Turn left, just after the castle, onto a small path that climbs alongside the curtain wall. Follow it, join the road and continue straight on, passing a road on the left and, a little further on, a narrow lane on the right. Continue to the T-junction.
(2) Turn right and, on the descent, veer left at the first path (wide white path). Follow the path and continue straight on the road until you reach the crossroads. At the crossroads, turn left.
(3) Turn right onto Rue de la Grange du Bois and continue along the road until you reach the electricity substation on the right.
(4) Turn left onto the road towards Saint-Brice, taking care, take the first path on the right and rejoin the road at the village of La Barde. Cross the hamlet and continue straight on until you reach the T-junction.
(5) Turn right, follow the main track which bends left to climb up to the hamlet of Bellejoie. Cross the hamlet; at the road, turn right and immediately left onto a wide track running alongside the low wall. Continue straight on along the main track, ignoring the tracks on the left. Head towards a mast but do not go down towards it. Follow the track to the crossroads.
(6) Please note, the crossroads is slightly off-centre. Turn left and then immediately right at the first path.
After about 100 m, leave the main track and turn right at the first track.
(7) At the crossroads, turn left and follow the path, which becomes a main track again, until you reach a road.
(8) At the junction with the D157, turn left onto the road and follow it with great care. Enter Jarnac.
(9) At the first junction, turn right onto Rue de Bel-Air, go straight on and take the dead-end road, continuing straight on until you reach the banks of the River Charente.
(10) Turn right, follow the riverbank to the starting bridge, go up onto the road and cross the Charente to return to the car park (S/E).
